Department Overview


The RIA & Custody Services Division (RCS) serves as a clearing firm for independent broker-dealers and as a custodian for independent Registered Investment Advisor firms (RIAs).



Job Summary


The individual(s) chosen for this role will have the opportunity to work directly with all levels of the department including senior leadership. Curiosity and innovation skills will be key when participating in projects that will impact the department for years to come. Understanding of the regulatory agencies that oversee Broker-Dealer and RIA firms will be essential in understanding how the different areas of the business work together to mitigate risk and implement product solutions while delivering a superior client experience. This role will focus on specific projects related to risk mitigation that have been identified as priorities for the department. The individual applying should have a desire to learn about financial services communications.



The summer associate position is a temporary role.



Start Date: Monday, June 2, 2025


End Date: Friday, August 8, 2025


Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week.



Duties and Responsibilities


  • Draft, review, and edit documents.

  • Partner with RCS Risk team to design and implement policy.

  • Conduct research on regulatory rules and requirements.

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the custody and clearing business.

  • Gain understanding of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940

  • Specified projects and varied assignments relating to the RCS department.

  • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 


Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


Knowledge of %26ndash


  • Microsoft Office functions (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • FINRA and the SEC and how they oversee RIAs and Broker Dealers.

  • Fundamental concepts of financial markets and products.

  • Relationship management software and applications is a plus.

  • Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a professional office environment.


  • Basic concepts, principles, and practices of an assigned business unit.

  • Preparing and delivering written reports.

  • Effective time management and ability to meet set deadlines.

  • Presenting to large and small audiences.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements


  • Freshman or sophomore standing (May 2027-May 2028 graduates) pursuing a bachelor%26rsquos degree in business, finance, or related field. 


  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
