Invest Strategy Group (ISG)

The Investment Strategy Group (ISG) within Goldman Sachs Private Wealth Management has responsibility for strategic and tactical asset allocation views and advice for the firm’s high net worth clients and certain institutions.  The role of an ISG member requires a broad set of qualities, including a passion for investing, client servicing, as well as strong analytical and communication skills.

The Strategic and Quantitative Asset Allocation team within the Investment Strategy Group is seeking a VP to contribute to the research, design and implementation of investment strategies across global asset classes.  Fluent programming skills, impeccable attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are also a must.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL 

  • Develop and implement quantitative models and strategies to enhance investment decision-making
  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis to identify short-term market anomalies or long-term risk premiums.
  • Evaluate risk, return and cash-flow profiles of private assets and develop complementary strategies in public markets that enhance overall portfolio performance.
  • Utilize advanced statistical, machine learning, and optimization techniques to generate actionable insights and develop strategies such as event-driven, calendar-based, relative value, etc.
  • Collaborate with team members to design and back-test new investment strategies.
  • Mathematical modelling (statistics and stochastics) of financial products for prediction, pricing, valuation, trading and risk management.
  • Design, develop and enhance automatic tools, trading systems, research platforms etc.
  • Daily review and management of positions and risks in the portfolio and rebalancing to adhere to their respective mandates.
  • Present research findings and strategic recommendations to senior management and investment committees.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Ideal candidate should have advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or related discipline. Exceptional candidates with Bachelor’s degree will also be considered
  • Must have three (3) years of experience with a Master’s or PhD degree or five (5) years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in quantitative finance, such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience on the buy side, hedge fund or asset management industry, is a plus.
  • Knowledge or experience with risk and return of private assets is a plus.
  • Specific knowledge of global futures markets, event-driven strategies, calendar-based strategies, and other related anomalies is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 Licenses required

Salary Range

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $115000-$270000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
