Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted segment that partners with all parts of the firm to provide banking, securities, and asset management services to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and controls to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation. For every new product launched and every trade executed, it is Operations that develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow.

Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs) are investment accounts that are customized to investors’ portfolio management strategies and personal values. As investor demand shifts to the customization and personalization of portfolios in SMAs, we want to lead the market in expanding distribution of our differentiated financial products with outstanding digital experiences. OUR IMPACT

The GSAM Retail SMA Oversight team sits within the Asset Management Division and has primary responsibility of all operations functions for SMA portfolios, interacting with several groups including group supports portfolio managers, sales, and client relationship professionals.

This team is looking to add an experienced leader who will have direct responsibility for the development and implementation of the SMA operational strategy and technology initiatives focused on embedding industry standard processes, scaling the platform, mitigating risk, and delivering best in class processes. Team also has responsibility of portfolio accounts, new account funding, client servicing and serves as the single point of contract for all operations related client inquiries. 

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a highly collaborative role, and such requires the capability to work effectively with a diverse range of professionals both internally and externally, covering a wide variety of products and functions. The principal areas of responsibility will be:

• As part of this role, the VP will be responsible for a group of analysts and associates supporting the SMA business and managing risk for the team.
• Establish best in class and industry comparable operating and service model for SMAs with a focus on scale and streamlining processes.
• Provide thought leadership on the broader operational business plan and strategy.
• Oversee key individuals who Prioritize initiatives and features, across Operations to make informed trade-offs between new feature development, operational risk, and scale.
• Establish and monitor operational KPIs and deliver on critical OKRs. 
• Lead the governance structures required for a cross functional SMA project team across various Ops stakeholders.
• Influence senior leaders' decision making and investment.
• Support addition of new sponsors and platforms for business growth
• Trading desk support to include ad-hoc queries as well as ongoing business initiatives.     
• Coordinate across portfolio managers on cash funding, withdrawals, trading requests and account attribute changes               
• Assist in the launch of new products and instruments.    
• Process and control analysis to ensure effective oversight and risk management. 
• Participation and analysis of industry events to assess impact for AMD. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 8+ years’ experience in asset management. Experience in leading large teams and driving change, preferably in Operations/ Finance industry.
• Bachelor’s degree required. 
• Risk management focus. Diligence and ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure and to provide practical solutions.
• Demonstrate ability to partner across product groups, regions, and functional responsibilities. Be highly collaborative, collaborative, and strong consensus builder.           
• Be an analytical thinker, possesses strong facilitation and data gathering skills.     
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong People Management & Stakeholder Management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as web-based applications                
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral.       

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS       

• Strong technical background in Asset Management, SMAs and understanding of the SMA landscape including external platforms and vendors.
• Understanding of Operational nuances is supporting a retail SMA business & Asset management business.
• Experience with agile practices is a plus.
• Understanding of the product lifecycle and user experience for the distribution of products on a digital platform
