Private Bank Lending Service Professionals are the primary client contact, delivering exceptional service, operational support, and risk management throughout the entire lending process. This role focuses on managing client relationships, managing risk, assisting with capital calls and distributions, covenant management, identifying and implementing growth opportunities, participating in client meetings, pre-screening lending requests, partnering with underwriting for risk management, managing initial default situations, ensuring compliance, and maintaining clear communication with clients.

Goldman Sachs Private Bank provides competitive borrowing and cash management solutions from Goldman Sachs Bank USA that are strategically integrated with our client’s wealth management goals.  Our experienced team partners with PWAs to advise clients on new loans, refinancing and restructuring of existing loans along with overall liability management.  Our lenders and mortgage specialists provide a wide range of creative borrowing solutions against asset classes ranging from marketable securities and alternative investments, residential and commercial real estate to more tailored solutions against private assets such as aviation, fine art or vineyards.  All team members are employees of Goldman Sachs Bank, USA. 

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL 

  • Client Relationship Management:  Maintain client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact for all client matters related to their co-invest loans. Proactively manage expectations, address inquiries, and resolve issues, ensuring a seamless and positive client experience.
  • Lending Process Management: Conduct initial assessments of lending requests, gather due diligence and KYC information, and coordinate the rollout of loan programs. Oversee cash movements, modifications, and servicing requests, providing regular reporting to fund sponsors/borrowers.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate the risk and economic implications of transactions, utilizing strong analytical and technical skills. Advise and develop credit solutions that meet client needs while adhering to acceptable risk parameters. Assist with diligence of private equity fund and sponsor track records, financials, LPs, PPMs, and LPAs.
  • Credit Analysis and Documentation: Evaluate the credit implications of complex loans. Document loan structures and analyses for credit approval and file documentation purposes, ensuring consistency with approved terms and appropriate risk ratings.
  • Compliance and Monitoring: Ensure effective and consistent compliance with control procedures, including covenant and collateral monitoring. Maintain accurate credit files and documentation. Interact with banking regulators as needed.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong communication with Regional Lending Teams, Credit Risk Management, PWM teams, clients, and other Goldman Sachs personnel. Partner with the US Underwriting team on credit memos and portfolio/risk management.
  • Problem Solving: Take the lead in navigating solutions for at-risk accounts within your portfolio, collaborating with Senior Lenders, US Underwriting, and Private Bank management.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR 

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required or relevant working experience 
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in financial services (underwriting, lending, private banking, investment banking, private equity, and/or credit roles) with a strong understanding of lending to professionals in the alternative investment industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of financial accounting, analysis, and modeling.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), as well as strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work autonomously and collaboratively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
