Asset & Wealth Management

Asset & Wealth Management provides investment services to help clients preserve and grow their financial assets and achieve their financial goals. We provide these services to our clients, both institutional and individuals, including investors who primarily access our products through a network of third-party distributors around the world. We manage client assets across a broad range of investment strategies and asset classes, including equity, fixed income and alternative investments. Alternative investments primarily include hedge funds, credit funds, private equity, real estate, currencies, commodities and asset allocation strategies. Our investment offerings include those managed on a fiduciary basis by our portfolio managers, as well as those managed by third-party managers. We offer our investment solutions in a variety of structures, including separately managed accounts, mutual funds, private partnerships and other commingled vehicles. We also provide customized investment advisory solutions designed to address our clients’ investment needs. These solutions begin with identifying clients’ objectives and continue through portfolio construction, ongoing asset allocation and risk management and investment realization. We draw from a variety of third-party managers, as well as our proprietary offerings, to implement solutions for clients. We also provide tailored wealth advisory services to clients across the wealth spectrum. We operate globally serving individuals, families, family offices, and foundations and endowments. 

Our relationships are established directly or introduced through companies that sponsor financial wellness or financial planning programs for their employees, as well as through corporate referrals. We offer personalized financial planning to individuals and also provide customized investment advisory solutions and offer structuring and execution capabilities in securities and derivative products across all major global markets. 

In addition, we offer clients a full range of private banking services, including a variety of deposit alternatives and loans that our clients use to finance investments in both financial and nonfinancial assets, bridge cash flow timing gaps or provide liquidity and flexibility for other needs. We invest alongside our clients that invest in investment funds that we raise or manage. We also have investments in alternative assets across a range of asset classes. Team Overview

The Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) Operational Risk Team is a First Line of Defense (1LoD) global risk function that reports to the AWM Chief Risk Officer.  The team is tasked with designing and executing frameworks that cover non-financial risk oversight activities collectively for AWM including, but not limited to Issue Management, Third Party, Operational Resilience and Risk Governance.  Our primary objectives are to enhance scalability, create economies of scale in the way we oversee risk and elevate controls to optimize our operating platform.

The firm’s committee governance structures serve to enhance our reputation, business practices and client service. Committees serve as a vital control function for the firm and require a robust governance framework to operate effectively. This framework sets the operational standards and best practices for committees involved in the management of the firm.  The AWM Operational Risk team is responsible for redefining the divisional governance structure to accommodate recent business organizational changes, continually adhere to regulatory expectations, and enable world class risk management capabilities. 

Your Impact

Are you looking to apply your strong organizational skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills while deepening your understanding of financial and non-financial risks across asset and wealth management? Our Operational Risk team is seeking a professional to join the team to assist with framework creation, strategy development and coordinate the efforts in ensuring all key financial and non-financial risks are subject to a robust governance framework.   We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Risk Governance Specialist to join our AWM Operational Risk team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for helping to define and maintain the optimal risk governance structure across the organization, overseeing and enhancing the risk governance frameworks, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and promoting a culture of risk awareness and mitigation.

Our Impact

AWM’s risk governance structure will provide a mechanism to aggregate the risks across the division so that senior management has a holistic view of the comprehensive risk profile.  The revised structure will foster robust discussions on changes in the overall divisional risk profile, divisional impact from changes in business and risk environment, and drive towards decision making to manage risks within appetite.

AWM Risk Governance Roles & Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing a holistic risk committee structure for AWM.
  • Participate in governing the workflow of the AWM Risk Committee framework and subordinate sub-division level Committees (AM Public, AM Private and WM), working with Committee Chairs, Counsel, Compliance and other stakeholders to provide essential coordination and risk management.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the AWM businesses and collaborate with a diverse set of functional areas, including business unit leads, CROs, OROs, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Engineering, etc. to evaluate the financial and non-financial risks being brought through committee to ensure they align with respective charters.
  • Collaborate with other committees on cross-divisional and firm-wide projects and initiatives to ensure divisional alignment and prioritization.
  • Manage strategic projects to streamline the committee governance process in order to enhance controls, create risk management scale and efficiencies, and enable quicker to market turnaround for risk mitigation efforts.
  • Support the business as teams prepare committee material and ad hoc topics for inclusion.  The role helps to coordinate, track, and manage the committee material in partnership with the business, working groups, and Council / Committee members.
  • Support documentation of risk governance procedures and frameworks for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring risks across the organization.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to ensure alignment of risk management practices with business objectives.
  • Support monitoring of regulatory developments and industry trends to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Participate in special projects related to risk management initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Analyst level with 1-2 years of professional experience in the financial services industry
  • Risk Management or Governance experience, a plus
  • Broad knowledge of Asset Management or Wealth Management  businesses.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly with global teams and manage a varied workload to meet deadlines.
  • Highly motivated with strong academic background and a commitment to excellence.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with ability to partner across federation teams, businesses and senior management. 
  • Strong organizational skills including ability to manage multiple priorities, deliver on tight timelines, detail oriented, excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to build trust and confidence of stakeholders and strengthen working relationships through ongoing dialogue and interactions across various levels within the organization
  • Be highly collaborative, team-oriented and strong consensus builder.
