About this Role

An Assistant Project Manager at Irby Construction Company is responsible for assisting with overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting and controls, and providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The responsibilities for this role span a broad spectrum, covering all the areas of project management; project planning, contract administration, and cost, time, quality, and safety management while ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget. Work locations will be from Pensacola to Tallahassee FL.

What You'll Do

  • Assist with overseeing the construction project from start to finish.
  • Play a key role in project planning, managing project budgets, and identification of resources needed.
  • Involved in all meetings, including but not limited to pre-construction, weekly customer, close out, and lessons learned meetings.
  • Ensures that construction activities move according to schedule. Work directly with PM/Superintendent/General Foreman to establish baseline schedules.
  • Develops daily work plans, makes revisions as/when needed, and assembles any change requests.
  • Tracks project costs, billings, and schedules.
  • Evaluate cost versus profit.
  • Understands and facilitates all safety and compliance requirements and schedules necessary/required training prior to start of project. Oversees the reporting and corrective action for safety incidents and ensures strict adherence to proper procedures.
  • Maintains proper administration for employee time tracking. Reviews for accuracy before submitting.
  • Maintains processes for tool allocation, inventory, and repairs.
  • Closely monitors and tracks all equipment usage including rental, owned, and truck use.

What You'll Bring

  • Communicate effectively with the Superintendents responsible for completing various phases of the project.
  • Electrical background preferred.
  • Primavera P6 experience preferred.
  • Microsoft Excel experience.
  • Reliable, customer-oriented, and willing to be a part of a construction team.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and conflicts.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide leadership in the execution of complex construction projects and organize a team effort.
  • Ability to delegate and manage multiple operations effectively.
  • Ability to assess the operational effectiveness of contractors.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical materials accurately and effectively.
