The Employee Engagement team at Verizon is looking for a senior communications strategist to improve how we reach and engage our V Teamers. As a key member of the Employee Engagement Center of Excellence, you will work closely with our communications team and partners to develop and implement effective communication strategies and tactics that elevate Verizon’s reputation as an employer of choice.
The Associate Director of Employee Engagement is responsible for overseeing internal communications and events across our corporate business groups. This includes leading a team focused on shaping and executing employee engagement strategies that align with Verizon’s business goals, inspire employees and foster a sense of pride and belonging across the organization.
As an experienced and highly creative strategist, you must be willing to constantly innovate and seek out the best practices, latest trends, best technologies and most efficient processes. More than anything, you must be able to be a trusted, strategic counselor to senior leaders across the business.
Responsibilities will include:
Developing and executing a comprehensive employee engagement strategy for our corporate functions that compliments the overall communications approach, driving company priorities, business unit goals and initiatives.
Proactively identifying opportunities to deepen employees' pride and sense of belonging — a key ingredient of driving customer experiences through great employee experiences — and empowering our V Teamers to act as brand ambassadors and advocate for Verizon as an Employer of Choice.
Building and maintaining strong relationships with key internal stakeholders, including business leaders, operational support and internal partners (Corporate Communications, Human Resources, etc.), to create and deliver segmented and targeted communications to diverse internal audiences.
Partnering with stakeholders on developing end-to-end communications plans for large cross-functional projects, planning and delivering virtual, hybrid and in-person events.
Engage internal stakeholders in creating a fresh, personalized and innovative employee experience by leveraging new technologies and tools to enhance engagement.
Use data-driven insights, including pulse surveys and feedback, to monitor and measure the effectiveness of employee engagement initiatives, identify engagement trends and opportunities, and make decisions on how to optimize how we reach employees with the right message at the right time and through the right platforms.
Provide strategic counsel to the executive team, ensuring a consistent and effective leadership message internally.
Develop written content to support employee engagement needs, from internal communications on transformation projects to articles highlighting the business impact.
Lead a high-performing employee engagement team, fostering a culture of trust, care and excellence and building the team’s reputation as a strategic advisor in the business.
Most of all, you share our belief that people are our most important investment. You know the value of a great leader—and how inspiring and empowering it can be to work for one. You’re driven to help your internal clients be better leaders and believe in everyone’s potential to grow. You’re a great listener—people naturally approach you for help and advice. And you enjoy partnering with your clients and stakeholders to solve complex problems and, in the process, make us better every day.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
