Leading the regulatory team to ensure the timely / accurate filing of regulatory reports, mitigating / resolving issues, and spearheading critical communications with internal and external stakeholders.
Ensuring regulatory compliance of financial reports filed (includes reviewing financial reports and assuring reports are in ever-changing compliance and prepared using the current financial resources.)
Ensuring regulatory compliance of the financial ledger (includes implementing monitoring procedures to discover changes to the system which could adversely impact reporting and resolving issues including approving correcting journal entries).
Identifying and driving improvement opportunities and work closely with either the internal team or service providers (if any) to ensure such opportunities are appropriately implemented to provide timely, accurate information in compliance with regulatory accounting requirements.
Acting as front-line liaison Legal financial support (includes assisting Legal directly with regulatory issues and re-directing them to the appropriate finance contacts).
Planning development, testing and analysis of Regulatory requirements during financial system conversions.
Undertaking and managing ad-hoc projects to support ERM, IA, or other Regulatory Commission inquiries.
Training regulatory team as well as other stakeholders including Lake Mary accounting and Tax on the importance of strictly adhering to regulatory accounting mapping.
What we’re looking for:
You have proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. Your communication skills are excellent, and you’re confident in conveying information to diverse audiences. You have strong decision-making skills and sound judgement. You have exceptional analytical skills and are able to identify trends, solve problems, and develop creative solutions. You’re knowledgeable and resourceful when it comes to regulatory notices and requirements, and are able to implement that information into reporting.
You’ll need to have:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration; or four or more years of work experience.
Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Extensive knowledge of regulatory matters.
Extensive knowledge of Federal and State regulatory accounting requirements, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and internal accounting policies and practices.
Experience in working with IT to design & implement accounting systems and applications.
Advanced understanding of report query and design.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
Master Degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
A finance certification, such as a CPA.
Knowledge of ERPs with an emphasis on SAP.
Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement initiatives, root cause analysis and project management.
Experience communicating with Federal and/or State regulators.
MIS skills.
Strong audit skills.
