What you’ll be doing…
The Business Intelligence Consultant will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining innovative solutions to provide analytical insights required by the business. In this role, it is imperative that the individual is well-versed in reporting and BI-related technologies, can perform complex data queries, and can collaborate with all levels in the organization with minimum supervision.
The role requires working extremely close with the business in supporting, advising and solving systems related problems in multiple areas. The collaboration with the business will span from day-to-day activities to more complex projects. The individual will connect to various databases/data stores including big data and to develop analytical views in various BI tools such as Tableau, Looker, Qlik, and proprietary web-based applications. They will partner with GTS and vendors to enable data capabilities, and should be comfortable collaborating with stakeholders and business leads to execute on the E2E Business intelligence delivery roadmap.
Responsibilities include:
- Interacting with business partners to understand their business and reporting needs, including critical metrics and KPIs.
- Leading design sessions and creating wireframes to support development.
- Training the business on how to utilize dashboard applications.
- Troubleshooting issues with minimal guidance, identifying data related problems and providing scalable solutions.
- Providing subject matter expertise in analyzing, assessing and building out analytical applications.
- Transforming business requirements into a prototype to provide business and data insights.
- Designing, developing, testing, deploying and supporting BI/Analytical solutions.
- Managing technical scope and providing hands-on expert level assistance.
- Developing application documentation and performing maintenance and support.
What we’re looking for…
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or four or more years of work experience in a related field.
- Three or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through work experience and/or military experience. Advanced data Visualization tool experience (Tableau, Qlik Sense, Looker).
- Data modeling experience.
- Experience in writing and debugging SQL queries.
- Experience with change management / version control.
- Tableau development experience.
- Experience in creating and enhancing story telling dashboards that track Logistics and transportation volume and spend metrics, On time delivery - carrier metrics and DC ops metrics.
- Experience in developing advanced integrated BI Solutions.
- Experience in data cleansing and data transformation activities.
- Experience in optimizing dashboards with focus on usability, performance, flexibility and standardization.
- Experience in end-to-end implementation of BI projects for developing a portfolio of scorecards, KPIs, reports & dashboards.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Tableau certification.
- Exposure to other visualization tools like QlikSense and Looker.
- Experience providing innovative solutions to extend out of the box functionality of BI Tools.
- Experience with Agile software development life cycle and formal change management methodologies.
- Understanding of data warehousing methodologies and ETL processing.
- Extensive knowledge of Transportation and Logistics business processes, systems and data design.
