General Summary:

We are seeking a talented Staff Software Engineers who are experienced in management and development of software for mobile and devices. This role requires working at all layers of the camera software stack, from Android Camera HAL to low level hardware control. Responsibilities include the software architecture design and development of new image processing features, support for new hardware, optimizing, and working with leading partners to build world-class camera solutions. The successful candidate will be exposed to innovative image analysis and processing techniques using varied accelerators including ARM, DSP, GPU, and the immensely powerful camera SW framework to enable complex camera features and work with the latest imaging sensors. The ideal candidate will also possess the following experience/skills:

• Experience with architecture and design of large software project.

• Experience with designing and developing multi-process and multi-threaded applications.

• Experience writing C/C++ based drivers on Linux.

• Prior experience with system level object-oriented software design, and test-driven development.

• Linux kernel and user space development experience.

• Experience with various sensor and bus interfaces: MIPI, I2C and SPI.

• Experience developing Android Camera HAL implementations.

• Solid understanding of Android OS Internals & Driver Framework.

• Previous experience in camera ISP and camera framework is a plus

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

Preferred Experience and Skills

• 5+ year in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports.

• 4+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).

• 4+ years of experience in programming (e.g., C, C++), computer architecture, or embedded systems.

• 2+ years of experience in camera hardware or systems design and optimization.

Responsibilities

• Gathers, integrates, and interprets information across modules or sub-blocks of code from a variety of sources to troubleshoot issues and find solutions.

• Manages the architecture and design of project deliverables.

• Manages the resolution of software related issues on assigned programs.

• Communicates with project lead to provide status and information about impending obstacles and suggests remediation.

• Collaborates with others inside and outside of project team to accomplish project objectives.

• Identifies gaps in design, effort, etc., and closes the gaps.

• Suggests strategies for solving issues during technical meetings.

• Serves as a technical leader within area of focus.

• Manages project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables for small projects.

• Performs code reviews on project team's submitted solutions.

Level of Responsibility

• Working independently with little supervision.

• Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have fiscal impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.

• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.

• Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).

• Completing tasks that do not have defined steps; simultaneous use of multiple mental abilities is required to determine the best approach; mistakes may result in significant rework.

• Exercising substantial creativity to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives.

• Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.

• Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations. The responsibilities of this role do not include:

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$141,600.00 - $212,400.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
