Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role:
The Channel Partnerships Manager is responsible for cultivating existing partnerships and identifying new partnership opportunities within some of PayPal’s largest strategic partners in Southeast Asia. Channel Partners include ecommerce platforms, software providers, digital agencies, marketplaces, and payment gateways to name a few.

This is a broad role, which requires a good understanding of ecommerce and payments landscape, as well as a creative mind to identify new partnership opportunities. In addition, this role will spearhead our efforts to sell PayPal Commerce Platform and drive growth in scalable ways.

We are looking for someone who has deep experience with managing and growing partners, strong hunter instincts, and also someone who is very sales target focused.

You will be part of the APAC Sales Organization where you will collaborate with other teams to leverage existing and new Channel Partners to grow our business and expand our market share of checkout.

Your way to impact:

The role is responsible for identifying new potential verticals and potential channel partners, and work with local sales teams to win these partnership deals to meet our Channel Partner sales targets. You will also be working with our top local channel partners on account strategies and execution plans by identifying expansion opportunities to grow PayPal’s share of checkout and grow the PayPal volumes with the channel partner to drive revenue and profitability.

In your day-to-day role you will:

  • engage closely with our existing partners and build strong relationships with them. You will need to identify and drive new opportunities to go live with our partners, as well as manage existing merchants with the partner. You will track the growth of these existing local partners to make sure they are on track to meet the annual targets
  • need to identify new potential partners, new verticals to target and sign them up as partners to grow our partner portfolio.  
  • work closely with local sales teams to drive merchant attachment to our partners. You will work with our partners to drive new merchant leads through events, lead referral programs, etc.
  • work together with internal teams to solve potential road blocks and win deals. E.g.. Pricing, Legal, Compliance and so on.
  • work collaboratively with the Integration Team to sell and tailor the right solutions  for our partners, ensure integrations are smooth, as well as onboarding is completed on time for the partner to go live as quickly as possible.
  • work with Marketing to create strategies and execute activities that will drive partner advocacy, merchant acquisition, and increase total merchant processing volume with our top existing partners.
  • Maintain all opportunities in Salesforce with updated information for tracking and reports

What do you need to bring:

  • Min 7+ years of relevant experience in Channel partner sales, partner account management ideally within payments or fintech, with a focus on driving partner growth and retention.
  • A deep understanding of e-commerce, merchant services, and payment solutions, with familiarity in fintech products and digital platforms as a strong advantage.
  • Have a strong desire to meet and exceed sales targets consistently.
  • Ability, relevant experience and hunter instincts to identify new partners and opportunities that fit into our business plan, close deals quickly as well as to ensure a short ramp time.
  • Experience and knowledge of partner ecosystems, partner business models, needs of partners and PayPal solutions to uncover opportunities and craft partner specific solutions 
  • You need to be able to identify customer’s pain points and sell in PayPal’s value proposition effectively to the customer to drive volumes and build customer’s trust and stickiness with PayPal.
  • Experience in forging relationships with senior management as well as working level teams with potential and existing partners. Building trust, confidence, loyalty, awareness and drive mutual benefit. 
  • Ability to work in a team effectively and collaboratively with internal cross functional partners and stakeholders.
  • Have the right blend of competencies to project manage large strategic deals from pitch to launch & beyond and continue managing marketing programs & expansion plans with the partner.
  • Ability to speak Mandarin and/or any South-East Asian Language a plus but not mandatory.
