Global Compliance

Our division prevents, detects and mitigates compliance, regulatory and reputational risk across the firm and helps to strengthen the firm’s culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firm’s enterprise-wide compliance risk management program. As an independent control function and part of the firm’s second line of defense, Compliance assesses the firm’s compliance, regulatory and reputational risk; monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations; designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training; conducts independent testing; investigates, surveils and monitors for compliance risks and breaches; and leads the firm’s responses to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries. You'll be part of a team with members from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds, such as law, accounting, sales, and trading. We look for those who possess sound judgment, curiosity, and are able to adapt to a changing regulatory landscape.

It is the role of Goldman Sachs’ Global Compliance Division to help ensure that every employee and client of the firm upholds this principle.  Accordingly, the Global Compliance Division is viewed as an integral part of the firm, enabling it to conduct business confidently in complex global markets. Global Compliance prevents, detects, and mitigates compliance, regulatory, and reputational risks across the firm and helps to strengthen the firm’s culture of compliance. Compliance accomplishes these through the firm’s enterprise-wide risk management program as a part of the firm’s second line of defense.

Consumer Compliance is a team within the Global Compliance Division and is responsible for executing overall strategy for the consumer compliance program, a component of the firmwide risk management program.  This includes program monitoring, issue escalation, communications, regulatory engagements, and resource management.  Consumer Compliance is at the forefront of delivering robust risk management in adherence with regulatory expectations. 

Responsibilities and Qualifications

An ideal candidate will:

  • Support objectives related to complaints management, issues management, third party oversight and business change management
  • Oversee logistics and assist in management of projects, reports, and other initiatives
  • Execute creative solutions to improve and optimize operational processes across the program
  • Demonstrate very strong written and oral communication, as well as analytical abilities
  • Be detail-oriented, so as to consistently produce accurate work product
  • Work independently and exercise strong judgment when executing an assigned task
  • Multi-task and have the ability to manage and advance multiple projects simultaneously
  • Identify and effectively escalate potential issues to appropriate person(s)
  • Persistently ensure that appropriate information is obtained and timely recorded
  • Be a high energy, proactive, and collaborative team player

Experience and Skills 

  • 3+ year work experience in compliance, operations or legal experience in financial services
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent military experience
  • Experience in compliance risks and controls
  • Strong communications skills: oral, written, and interpretive - must be able to comprehend what is said/written and ask probing questions
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state consumer banking laws and regulations, as well as industry association standards, including, among others Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Electronic Funds Transfer Act, UDAAP/UDAP, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Truth in Savings Act
  • Advanced Excel, or other data analytics tools knowledge
  • Strong relationship management skills with ability to deepen relationships and build partnerships across business a and key functional support areas like Internal Audit, Legal, Technology and Risk
