The Goldman Sachs Compliance Division prevents, detects and mitigates regulatory and reputational risk across the firm, and helps to strengthen the firm's culture of compliance. As an independent control function and part of the firm's second line of defense, Compliance:

  •    Assesses the firm's compliance, regulatory and reputational risk

  •    Monitors for compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations

  •    Designs and implements controls, policies, procedures and training

  •    Conducts independent testing

  •    Leads the firm's response to regulatory examinations, audits and inquiries

    Compliance Engineering empowers these activities by building and operating a suite of software platforms and applications. We are a team of more than 300 engineers and scientists who work on the most complex, mission-critical problems. We have access to the latest technology and to massive amounts of structured and unstructured data. We leverage modern frameworks to build responsive and intuitive UX/UI and Big Data applications, incorporating cutting-edge AI and efficient processes to drive them.

    ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    As a Big Data Engineering Manager you will:

  •    Responsible for managing and leading a team of 3 – 5 software engineers across global locations.

  •    Have stakeholder engagement, build strong relationship with business partners by collaborating globally with sponsors, users, and engineering colleagues across multiple divisions for planning & execution of engineering projects 

  •    Be instrumental in 

    o   Driving Quality: implementing processes and procedures to maximize the overall quality of software

    o   Execution: build big data pipelines and anomaly detection models which process huge volumes of trading and trade related data

  •    Have a mindset to work on a broad range of problems, including negotiating data contracts and capturing data quality metrics

  •    Managing SDLC for significant projects and be involved in the full life cycle i.e. scoping, designing, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software systems across our products

  •    Develop an understanding of evolving regulatory frameworks & leverage cutting edge technologies to manage firm regulatory and reputational risk

  •    Develop and manage talent within the team including building a culture of ownership and high quality deliverables

    TECHNICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS 

  •    MBA or Bachelor/ Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field of study.

  •    7+ years’ experience in software development including at least 2 years of people management experience.

  •    Experience in developing and designing end-to-end solutions to enterprise standards including automated testing and SDLC.

  •    Ability (and tenacity) to clearly express ideas and arguments in meetings and on paper.

  •    Experience with one or more of ; Java, Spark, Hadoop, Flink, MapReduce, HBase, JSON, Protobuf, Presto, Elastic Search, Kafka, Kubernetes

  •    Data analysis using tools such as SQL, Spark SQL, Zeppelin/Jupyter
