What you’ll be doing...

The Risk Management Organization 

At Verizon, we are building a world-class Risk Management organization.  We have begun a comprehensive program to streamline processes, enhance systems, realign the organization and add opportunities for personal skill-building and professional growth. Risk Management – Captive Team

The Consultant - Treasury Captive Operations – Finance and Accounting will report to the Associate Director – Captive Operations and will have overall responsibility for the accounting and financial management of Captive insurance companies. The position will be responsible for the preparation of financial statements in conjunction with the captive management firm.  This position requires excellent financial and interpersonal skills to address regulatory, tax and accounting issues and to achieve satisfactory resolution.  The incumbent will participate in and may lead ad hoc projects with significant financial impacts. 

  • Reviewing monthly financial statements and Verizon 10Q and 10K filings related to Captives. 

  • Monitoring internal controls and perform Sarbanes Oxley controls testing. 

  • Helping captive accounting managers to work with external auditors to ensure the annual audit is done timely and correctly.  Reviewing all regulatory filings and regulatory audits.

  • Coordinating the captive’s participation in multiple affiliated insurance programs and third-party insurance programs and ensuring the regulatory compliances.

  • Tracking insurance program profitability, reviewing cessions and actuarial data.

  • Help managing internal and external auditors, captive managers, actuaries, third party administrators, insurance brokers and banking relationships.

  • Monitoring Captive’s financial ratios to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal targets.

  • Providing supports to or lead ad hoc projects.

What we're looking for...
 

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or four or more years work experience.

  • Four or more years of relevant accounting or finance experience, or the equivalent.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent.

  • CPA Certification or ARM or CPCU.

  • Insurance/captive insurance industry experience.

  • Experience implementing and using digital finance tools.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills.

  • Willingness to learn and motivated to drive the results.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
