Job Description

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Controllers group is responsible for safeguarding the firm's assets: to help maintain the integrity of Goldman Sachs' finances and expenditures. The Legal Entity Controllers team sits within the Controllers Department division and is responsible for preparing and analyzing Balance Sheet (BS) and attribution reports covering both USGAAP and Brazil GAAP reporting. Key Control functions include BS, local risk, local regulatory and financial statements preparation in accordance with global and local rules set forth by applicable regulators. 

The primary mission of Controllers is to ensure that the firm meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated, and public financial institution. The Controllers department is made up of interrelated teams, working together to monitor the profitability and risks associated with every aspect of Goldman Sachs' business.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Below is a brief description of some of the Legal Entity Controllers core functions:

  1. Responsible for assisting the financial statements preparation in accordance with Brazil GAAP, US GAAP and IFRS GAAP;
  2. Responsible for regulatory reporting;
  3. Assisting in the month end closing processes for Financial and Non-Financial entities;
  4. Assist on inquiries from external Auditors and the Brazilian Central Bank and other regulators;
  5. Provide support to the team in ad-hoc activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and Conselho Regional de Contabilidade (CRC) are required;
  • At least one year of experience in Financial Institution's accounting regulatory control roles (Bacen GAAP);
  • Intellectually curious and diligent;
  • Strong quantitative/analytical skills;               
  • Communicative;
  • Understand impacts with the new COSIF requirements;
  • Teamwork oriented;
  • Advanced in English (speaking, writing, and reading);
  • Programing knowledge (VBA, Excel Macros, etc).
