Job Description

Controllers:

The mission of Controllers is to ensure that the firm meets the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution.  As part of the firm's second line of defense, Controllers provides the critical analysis required while ensuring the internal and external financial information of the firm is accurate. Additionally, Controllers serves an important role in safeguarding the assets of the firm through the independent scrutiny of financial information. Controllers engages regularly with the firm's regulators and auditors and through its strong culture of control and challenge helps to protect the firm from reputational and other risks.   

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for oversight of fund administrations' monthly closing process, including preparing and booking journal entries relating to daily cash activity, investment activity, currency purchases/exchanges, swap settings, debt payments, fund expenses, investor contributions and distributions, mark-to-market valuations foreign currency adjustments, accruals and other transactions. 
  • Review of accounts and quarterly accounting and reporting packages, including fund-level net asset values and investor capital statements for private equity investment funds. 
  • Review private equity funds' financial information and disclosures in accordance with U.S.  GAAP to ensure the integrity of accounting records for accuracy and compliance with accepted accounting policies and principles. 
  • Provide critical analysis required to ensure that the internal and external financial information of the private equity fund is accurate. 
  • Liaise extensively with other areas of firm, including product controllers, treasury, legal, tax, regulatory, technology, market risk and credit risk on various ad hoc inquiries and/or projects including new products launches, strategic changes to existing workflows, technology enhancements, and other initiatives. 
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting requests, management fee analysis, cash flow analysis, and provide assistance with investors' financial reporting related requests. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in job offered or a related Finance or Accounting role.
  • Knowledge of U.S. General Accepted Accounting experience (GAAP) and asset/wealth management industry 
  • Experience with private equity funds, investment company and partnership accounting.
  • CPA preferred
  • Internal-control oriented and process enhancement focus
  • Strong project management skillset, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Managerial/supervisory experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Skilled in Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint to create reports and perform analysis using pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts, filtering, data validation, and other \'what if\' tools.
