Job Summary

The successful candidate will be part of the Controllers Valuation Group. Controllers Valuation Group is responsible for designing valuation control framework for securities, loans, and derivatives held on the balance sheet. This function involves oversight of independent price verification process, valuation adjustments, and fair value disclosures. The candidate will interact with various groups within the firm including Controllers Management, Trading, Risk, Operations, Legal, Compliance and Technology.

Principal Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for designing and ensuring adherence to the valuation control framework including independent price verification (IPV), valuation adjustments and fair value disclosures
  • Oversight of the IPV process across the firm, and reporting of IPV results and key valuation metrics to Controllers’ management and other stakeholders
  • Review of valuation adjustments to ensure complete and accurate reporting to management
  • Oversight of workflow and disclosures related to ASC820
  • Assist in the development, and enhancement of valuation and price verification framework for newly traded securities and derivatives; in conjunction with key federation stakeholders (Technology, Operations, Legal, Compliance, etc.)
  • Monitor and drive methodology enhancements to mitigate valuation risks, driven by emerging trends and/or changing market dynamics

Basic Qualifications   

  • 8-10 years of experience in valuation of securities and/or derivatives
  • Accounting, Economics or Finance degree preferred, but not required
  • CPA or CFA preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Desktop Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Bloomberg 
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written communication) skills   
  • Ability to work in a team environment   
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills   
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with cross functional stakeholders

Salary Range 

The expected base salary for this Jersey City, New Jersey, United States-based position is $115000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
