About Unix/Compute Engineering ?

Unix/Compute  Engineering is a global team that architects and manages the Linux, Virtualization, and Server Hardware computing platform at Goldman Sachs. The Unix/Compute engineering team works closely with application developers and strategists to build and deploy technology solutions at Goldman Sachs. The team currently supports an internal cloud platform, is developing solutions for deploying applications on public cloud offerings, and is releasing a next-generation compute platform.

You will be working as part of multi-disciplinary team responsible for researching, architecting and building a cutting-edge platform that enable Goldman Sachs teams to deploy and manage services on this platform safely and securely. You will be directly contributing to platform that programmatically enforces safety, security and compliance of services and enables engineers to innovate faster. 

Responsibilities and Qualifications

As part of our global team you will work on various components as a Software Engineer. Your role includes specification, development, testing and releasing of new features. The team owns the platforms throughout the lifecycle. You are expected to contribute to the vision, understand our customers’ needs, business goals, product roadmap and contribute to building an engineering culture within the team. We expect the successful candidate to deliver high quality software and to be passionate about software engineering. You must have a proficient understanding of software development, security and the mechanisms to design safe, resilient and highly-available cloud native services. 

How will you fulfill your potential?

Develop new and maintain services in the space of Dynamic Computing platform.

The role requires collaboration with the other technology teams.

The candidate will work through the software development life cycle on a range of projects using a variety of languages and technologies including Java, Kubernetes, Prometheus, etc.

Skills and Experience we are looking for.

 

5+ years relevant development experience and having a successful track-record of delivering software and exposure to the software development lifecycle.

Strong experience in Java.

Experience with Relational (e.g. DB2) and Document (e.g. MongoDB) Databases.

Experience with messaging frameworks like JMS, Kafka.

Good knowledge of Linux.

Object-oriented analysis and design skills. Ability to use these methods in understanding business requirements and build sound solutions.

Experience in test driven development.

Preferred Qualifications

Having good experience with open source frameworks like Spring, Hibernate, Kafka.

Using Agile methodologies.

Test driven development.
