CORPORATE AND WORKPLACE SOLUTIONS 

Consisting of Corporate Services and Real Estate (CSRE) and the Office of Global Security (OGS), our teams drive productivity and enable the firm’s flow of business while ensuring its safety and security. Engineering and Critical Systems Operations (ECSO) is responsible for managing the operational risk of the firms owned and leased real estate assets across the Americas to maintain 100% business continuity throughout the portfolio. In addition to managing the operation and sustainment of existing assets, the team also assists in site selection, due diligence, MEP design, and construction administration support of new assets. The team works closely with Real Estate Development, Workplace Engineering and Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) teams to ensure we are maximizing the operating efficiency of our assets to achieve the firm’s sustainability and healthy building goals. 

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced Engineer to play a pivotal role in one of Dallas’ most iconic real estate development projects in Goldman Sachs’ new state-of-the-art North End campus development. This position will be instrumental in influencing the design, installation, commissioning and ultimate operations of critical infrastructure for the new 850,000 SF development. This individual will leverage their industry knowledge and relationships to drive an efficient project and grow a best-in-class operations team in region.  This position reports to the Americas Co-Head of Facilities / Americas Head of Engineering and Critical Systems Operations. This individual will be responsible for engineering and Critical Systems Operations of the Americas Central Region corporate real estate portfolio’s (which the new campus falls within.) Specifically, this role will oversee a team of engineering managers and operating engineers responsible for the day to day operation, maintenance and sustainability of the commercial real estate assets. 

Engineering & Critical Systems Operations:

  • Ensure the critical MEP infrastructure supporting business operations is operated and maintained to the highest standards of reliability and efficiency and in accordance with the firm’s global engineering policies and procedures.
  • Manage preventive maintenance programs and ensure compliance with maintenance objectives. 
  • Develop metrics and KPIs to track energy performance, capacity utilization, etc. against operational goals. 
  • Perform site visits as required to evaluate infrastructure conditions related to system design, installation and/or operation. 
  • Refine and establish monitoring processes for campus infrastructure loads such as: UPS, utility power, and chilled water.
  • Develop infrastructure design and operational risk models to assist in right-sizing infrastructure levels to manage risk in a commercial fashion
  • Leverage fault detection and analytic software to identify operating anomalies and inefficiencies. 
  • Evaluate and evolve operational procedures to ensure the facilities comply with Goldman Sachs risk management and efficiency objectives. 
  • Manage capacity in data centers, technology spaces and trading environments and support technology change management processes. 
  • Participate in real estate planning, design, development and execution of capital projects, including consultant RFP/interview process, drawing review, and construction / commissioning administration.  
  • Manage onsite vendors providing facility management critical systems operations services ensuring that all work is performed in accordance with the firm’s policies. 
  • Project management support of critical infrastructure construction and upgrade projects. 
  • Participate in development and management of annual operations and capital budgets for facilities. 
  • Act as the Facility Management team stakeholder for critical system design and operational requirements for new construction and expansion activity within critical environments. 

 Incident Response/Crisis Management 

  • Provide crisis management support to identify potential/immediate impacts, restore operational capabilities and institute required safeguards. 
  • Manage the Firm’s exposure to business risk by continuous review of the engineering and operational practices utilized in the design and operation of the critical infrastructure supporting business and technology operations. 
  • Be available 24/7/365 to manage critical incidents as part of a team coverage plan, escalation and evaluation of vendor’s response where business maybe exposed to risk from down-time of critical systems.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • 4-8 years of engineering design and/or facilities management experience preferably with financial institutions or other technology intensive organizations involving critical systems. 
  • Broad understanding of critical systems infrastructure, risk mitigation practices for operation and maintenance of critical systems, and demonstrated experience working with organizations in the planning and operation of critical environments. 
  • Proven track record of managing a team of engineers.
  • Demonstrated experience working with client organizations in the planning and operations of critical facilities.
  • Ability to read and understand MEP drawings, operations manuals and technical specifications 
  • Possess the ability to understand fundamental building codes and as well as ASHRAE and NFPA standards and guidelines 
  • Ability to write reports, develop presentations, and communicate technical concepts to non-technical management personnel is essential 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Proficient with the suite of Microsoft Office software

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional Engineering (PE)  license strongly preferred.
  • Electrical / Mechanical design and commissioning experience
  • Field experience in large scale construction projects, either in a MEP construction administration, Commissioning, or Technical PM / owners representation capacity.
