General Summary:

This position, Customs Specialist, will be a member of Import Compliance and Indirect Tax, which sits in the Tax Organization based in the US headquarters office located in San Diego.

This role will be primarily responsible for global import HS classification support of Qualcomm's chip and hardware products while supporting the business groups with Global Trade and regulatory requirements. This position will work with internal stakeholders to drive and implement jurisdiction and classification processes throughout the product development lifecycle within these groups.

This role will also drive continuous improvement in processes and technology of import compliance, from identifying/solving complex classification challenges and helping to identify areas of risks and/or process gaps between the business stakeholders and Global Trade.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 1+ year of Customs, International Business, or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year (Master’s = one year) of work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Law, or related field AND 1+ years of corporate, trade, or supply chain experience
  • Experience with, and ability to apply, the Harmonized Tariff Schedule definitions.
  • 1+ years’ experience in classifying using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
  • Customs Broker License is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information to help determine classifications.
  • Ability to use organizational skills to help work on project-based work, experience with Microsoft tools a plus.
  • Experience managing classification scenarios in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to interface and work within a geographically diverse team.
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to interact and team with company personnel and external advisors.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to self-manage and balance numerous competing priorities.
  • Highly motivated, strong drive, and the ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-changing environment.
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain Security programs is a plus.
  • High level of self-organized work with minimum supervision required (task prioritization, etc.)
  • Team player
  • High communication skills
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)

Pay range:

$61,000.00 - $92,000.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
