Who We Are

Secrets and Encryption Services is part of the Identity and Access Management (IAM) business unit within Core Engineering Division of Goldman Sachs. Our mission is to deliver and maintain solutions to protect the firm and our clients from cyberthreats such as credential compromise.  Industry reports continue to identify that the majority of cyberattacks are a result of compromised credentials, where a single credential could enable an attacker to cause major damage. The S&ES team is on a journey to uplift credential management solutions and governance across the firm.  We have an exciting and critical engineering multi-year roadmap in-flight, including the integration and adoption of HashiCorp Vault, as well as full support for on-premise, Cloud native and hybrid environments, all of these are considered P0 priorities for the firm.

The Role

  • Design and Build services for the firm's strategic credential management platform across on-premise, cloud-native and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Develop secure software in (at least one of) Golang, Python or Java.
  • Provide technical leadership through Architecture and Design as well as code-reviews across the team.
  • Advocate and own improvements to product quality, security, and performance of these critical services.
  • Diagnose and solve technical problems, both within the core environment, and associated GS technical eco-system.

Core Skills and Experience we are looking for

  • Good knowledge of multiple languages, and in-depth strong programming skills of at least one of: Golang, Java, Python,
  • Hands-On expertise with Secrets Management platform (HashiCorp Vault is a significant advantage).
  • Experience with DevSecOps across the SDLC process.
  • Technical Leadership - Architecture, design and monitoring/SRE for High Availability services.
  • Technical backstop for operational issues - Capable of triaging, identifying and fixing performance and availability issues in large scale systems. 
  • Passionate about the software development process and facilitating high frequency / high quality change across a vibrant and diverse user community.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - Ability to communicate complex technical challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Professional experience delivering software solutions.
  • Experience with Container Platforms (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code technologies (e.g Terraform).
  • Experience working with HashiCorp Vault.
  • Prior experience in the information and cyber security domain desirable.
