Job Description:

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Enterprise Patching Manager to lead our team in implementing and maintaining a robust patch management procedure for the Department of the Air Force (DAF) Enterprise IT as a Service (EITaaS) program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing a technical team, requirements identification, stakeholder engagement, as well as experience working with government IT security requirements.

This position is hybrid and will require on-site work in Chantilly, VA.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Windows patch management strategy for a large-scale DOD environment.
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals responsible for patch management execution.
  • Coordinate with various stakeholders, including government officials, to ensure compliance with federal security standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and prioritize patch deployments based on criticality and potential impact.
  • Oversee the testing and validation of patches in a controlled environment before deployment.
  • Manage the patch deployment schedule and ensure minimal disruption to government operations.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance documentation for patch management procedures, including standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
  • Monitor and report on patch compliance status, providing regular updates to senior management and government stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure patch management aligns with overall IT security strategy.

Qualifications:

Required: 

  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant work experience (additional 5+ years of recent relevant experience may be substituted for degree).
  • Experience in Windows systems administration and patch management.
  • Experience leading IT teams in a professional environment.
  • Experience implementing and managing Windows Update for Business in enterprise environments.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage Windows Update for Business alongside MECM for comprehensive patch management.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Microsoft patch management tools (e.g., WSUS, SCCM).
  • Familiarity with federal government IT security requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST guidelines).
  • Experience working with large-scale, complex IT environments.
  • Knowledge of automation tools for patch management.
  • Familiarity with change management processes in enterprise environments
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Desired:

  • Experience with ServiceNow
  • Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Configuration Manager and Intune Administrator Expert certification.
  • Experience working with federal government agencies
  • Knowledge of additional automation tools for patch management.
  • Experience integrating MECM with other Microsoft technologies such as Azure AD and Intune for comprehensive endpoint management.

Pay Range: There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$78,700 - $165,300
