About this Role

Quanta Services is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in the Houston area. This role is ideal for someone with a background in freight/cargo estimation, trucking, or transportation dispatch who is looking to leverage their experience in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment.

We're looking for a proactive individual passionate about delivering accurate cost proposals, collaborating with diverse teams, and driving operational excellence.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate inbound/outbound shipping requirements, labor needs, and equipment expenses to create precise, competitive cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with Freight & Cargo Inspectors/Coordinators to account for QA/QC factors, offloading processes, and real-time cargo conditions in your estimates.
  • Work with Logistics Coordinators to gather current freight rates, negotiate carrier agreements, and incorporate real-time market conditions into pricing.
  • Track and maintain all documentation (quotes, shipping data, vendor information) within the Transportation Management System (TMS) to ensure clear, organized records.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams (sales, operations, management) and external partners (carriers, warehouse operators) to align expectations and secure buy-in on final cost proposals.
  • Monitor project timelines, identify potential risks, and include contingency plans in your estimates.
  • Generate regular reports on key metrics (e.g., freight volume, labor hours, vendor pricing) to inform process improvements and cost-saving strategies.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is a plus.
  • Experience in logistics, freight, transportation, or a related field, with proven expertise in estimating, dispatching, or cost analysis.
  • Proficiency in cost-estimating software, logistics/TMS platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple estimates and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for interacting with carriers, customers, and internal teams.
  • A proactive, detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
