Responsibilities:
Involvement in the complete federal income tax compliance function for a company with over $130B of revenue and a complex structure.
Review Verizon’s federal tax filings, including its consolidated federal income tax return and associated tax forms.
Reviewing federal book to tax adjustments (non-fixed asset) for the entire income tax lifecycle, including forecasts, tax provision, tax return, return to provision, cumulative deferred proof andaudit support.
Responsible for the administration of OneSource Income Tax, including organization setup,
account mapping, ensuring the accuracy of data within the system, and the e-file process.
Reviewing federal book to tax adjustments to consider the proper classification and presentation on the federal tax return.
Calculating federal book-to-tax differences, including necessary data gathering and utilization of a standardized workpaper, as necessary.
Coordinating with other Senior Managers and Associate Directors as necessary to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of all federal tax processes
Research and analyze a wide range of federal tax positions; prepare memorandums to ensure proper documentation is maintained to adequately substantiate and support tax positions upon audit.
Provide support and develop and maintain positive relationships with other tax department professionals.
Developing and maintaining relationships with various teams throughout Verizon including, but not limited to, Tax Policy, Treasury and FP&A in order to gain compliance, accounting and reporting efficiencies.
Liaising with the tax planning team to identify and implement tax planning strategies to minimize cash taxes and the effective tax rate.
Providing support to the audit groups upon request.
Providing support for the quarterly and year-end tax provision processes.
Streamlining and optimizing tax processes through the use of various digital finance tools, including Alteryx, Qlik and other technologies.
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days set by your manager.
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong experience with OneSource Income Tax.
Effective time management, multitasking and prioritization skills with the ability to be a dynamic team player.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
A CPA, Masters of Tax or Masters of Accounting.
Experience with OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Apportionment
Solid data management and automation skills required; experience with Alteryx or Qlik is a significant plus.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with proven ability to work with individuals at all levels in a team environment.
Ability to independently challenge, when needed, while at the same time being supportive and solution-based.
An ability to navigate and negotiate through conflicting demands to maintain focus on priority objectives while ensuring key stakeholders’ needs are met.
Ability to lead groups, build consensus, and communicate effectively with all levels of personnel within and outside the organization.
Strong team leadership, communication, interpersonal and management skills with an executive presence and ability to build relationships with stakeholders in peer/influence models.
