Business Unit Description / Overview:

The Cross Markets Group (CMG) is a cross-industry and cross-product classic investment banking team and a key growth initiative of the Firm. The CMG team is focused on expanding our coverage of corporate clients and sponsor portfolio companies as well as middle market financial sponsors. CMG has built a leading Secondary Advisory business that provides strategic advice to sponsor clients on a range of general partner (GP) led secondary transactions, including Single and Multi-Asset Continuation Funds, Strip Sales, Tender Offers and other related structures. The Secondary Advisory business is fully integrated within M&A and Sponsor / Industry Coverage enabling the team to provide clients with differentiated insight and service.

Associates at Goldman Sachs play an important role at the firm. Their goal is to gain exposure to the Firm’s businesses and expanded knowledge of the investment banking industry, as they develop key analytical, communications, marketing and sales skills. Secondary Advisory associates develop financial models, perform customized company valuation analyses, fund-level returns analyses and structuring and are actively involved in all aspects of GP-led secondary transactions from beginning to end. Associates organize and prepare presentations, which explain industry trends, assess clients’ situations to provide the necessary financial advice, and recommend strategies to meet client goals. Additionally, associates coordinate teams of tax advisors, attorneys, and bankers for various transactions; lead due diligence processes and actively participate in the negotiations of legal documentation and transaction structuring. From maintaining client communication to helping Goldman Sachs structure client transactions, our associates are a vital part of Goldman Sachs banking teams.  

Responsibilities include

  • Creating and analyzing financial models, helping manage transaction processes and assisting in structuring transactions.
  • Developing financial models, performing customized company valuation analysis and actively being involved in GP-led secondary transactions
  • Organizing and preparing presentations, which explain industry trends, assessing clients’ situations to provide the necessary financial advice and recommending strategies to meet client goals
  • Coordinating teams of tax advisors, auditors, attorneys, and bankers for various transactions; leading due diligence processes and actively participating in the negotiations of legal documentation and transaction structuring
  • Preparations of internal committee presentations.

Skills And Experiences We Are Looking For

  • Master’s Degree and 1+ years of investment banking/investing experience (ideally in a secondaries / private capital advisory group); OR Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of investment banking/investing experience (ideally in a secondaries / private capital advisory group)
  • Significant experience in the private equity sector within the private equity/investment banking/financial services industry 
  • Experience with client coverage and execution of M&A and capital raising transactions
  • Drive, enthusiasm, creativity and excellent stakeholder/client relationship management experience required
  • Interpersonal skills required
  • Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities required
  • Must be a collaborative team player

Salary Range 

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $150000-$225000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
