FICC and Equities Operations provides client onboarding support, post-trade transaction services and post-trade portfolio services for FICC and Equities. Our Client Coverage Group manages key client relationships to enhance the client experience front to back. We support the FICC and Equities businesses to develop and deliver new products, services and markets.

JOB RESPONSBILITIES

The Operations division partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation. Operations span all product lines and markets, and functions.

The Tokyo FICC Operations has a dynamic environment where you will be required to be flexible and able to adapt quickly to changes in the markets and to assess requests from the business.

  • Partner with internal teams - Sales , Trading, Credit, Technology and other operations teams to ensure issue resolution and timely confirmation and settlement
  • Become a subject matter expert to mitigate risk and drive efficiencies
  • Understand internal and external regulations 
  • Assess market changes and present the impacts / recommendations to the business and Operations Management 
  • Protect the Firm and its clients from market penalties associated with Asset Servicing events and trading 
  • Analyze and resolve exceptions 
  • Evaluate and escalate risk items to management and the business 
  • Design and initiate process improvements with thorough understanding of the teams' processes and controls
  • Optimize securities inventory management 
  • Maintain close relationships with market counterparts, external and internal clients. 
  • Participation in strategic and tactical projects with other Operations areas, Engineering & management. 
  • Ensure that processes are continually reviewed and improved, risk is managed, and results are achieved that meet expectations for timeliness, quality and cost effectiveness within the Department.

DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS 

You will receive all the requisite market, systems and technical training required to develop your existing skill base and maximize your value to the enthusiastic and motivated team that you will be joining. As a front-to-back market-aligned FICC analyst, you will develop a thorough understanding of the markets themselves and the settlement process. 

SKILL / EXPERIENCE 

MANDATORY

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills. Essential for interacting at all levels, across business disciplines and regions.
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and creative approach with very high attention to detail 
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly collaborative and team-focused with ability to interact effectively with a wide range of individuals 
  • Effective problem solving and critical thinking skills along with the ability to use discretion and good judgment
  • Excellent in written and spoken language for Japanese and, excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English to interact with internal and external stakeholders

PREFERRED 

  • Understanding of the Fixed Income Securities market, including the current regulatory environment is beneficial
  • Intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure
  • Minimum 1-4 years of experience in Operations or related field Risk and Control focused
  • Competency with MS Suite, especially Excel, automation and the ability to learn multiple programs quickly
