OPERATIONS

Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all parts of the firm to provide banking, securities, and asset management services to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and controls to preserve and enhance the firm's assets and its reputation. For every new product launched and every trade executed, it is Operations that develops and manages the processes and controls that enable business flow.

YOUR IMPACT

Derivatives Risk Middle Office provides front to back post-execution support to all equity based derivative activity in North America. The team has critical focus on front office day to day risk and trading issues, new issuances, client queries, corporate actions processing and strategic firm and business infrastructure projects.

Derivatives Risk Middle Office acts as first point of contact for the various Equity and Equity Derivatives Trading desks, assisting in the execution of both new client and hedging activity. Our clients execute across a range of products e.g OTC and Listed Options, Securitized Issuances, Structured Derivatives, Synthetics, ETFs, and cash equity. It is our responsibility to ensure positions are booked in a timely manner and maintained accurately in our risk systems throughout the lifecycle of the product. There is a strong emphasis on knowledge and expertise, which requires that all team members be fully versed in products and systems used and how our day to day tasks impact the bottom-line of the firm. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Actively manage risk & P&L by providing operational support to all equity front office personnel
  • Assist with and perform allocation of a high number of OTC trades across a number of flows & resolution of any resulting economic breaks
  • Efficiently handle incoming queries from trading desks, sales, external clients & other internal federation teams (Technology, Compliance, Legal, Controllers, etc.)
  • Perform trade and risk reconciliation and monitor controls around the different business supported, particularly around Corporate Actions
  • Owning and liaising with other teams within GS to ensure timely resolution of queries, seeing operational issues through to resolution by connection with various stakeholder across multiple locations

BASIC SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience in Financial services
  • Ability to demonstrate a sound of understanding of a range of Equity Derivative products as well as Cash Securities. 
  • Strong Team-working skills – for working with both internal departments in New York and globally
  • Track record in the development of client relationships and key stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Ability to gain a strong understanding of the business and work with Marketing, Structuring, Trading and Sales desks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure
  • Strong leadership skills essential – this role will require a self-starter who can manage competing deadlines and can prioritize appropriately

Salary Range 

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $70000-$95000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
