Job Description

The Corporate Derivatives Underwriting Group is responsible for managing the underwriting and approval of interest rate, foreign exchange, and credit derivative trades being proposed and executed by government, corporate, financial institution and financial sponsor clients of the Global Banking & Markets (GBM) division.  Typical client trade activity relates to managing risk on the back of M&A, financing and / or other strategic initiatives, along with day-to-day exposures.

Members of the Corporate Derivatives Underwriting Group work closely with:

  • GBM Private / Corporate Derivatives desk
  • Credit Risk Management
  • Legal & Derivatives Documentation Group

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

The Associate will work as an integral member of the team on the underwriting and approval of corporate derivative trades and counterparty limits.  The position involves working on multiple simultaneous transactions at various stages and with differing approval timelines.  The includes liaising with the desk on pricing and risk models, legal & documentation teams on summarizing key transaction terms, researching and summarizing key financial highlights, preparing Cap Tables and requisite financial statements.  Given coordination across various teams and transactions the Associate will need to be adept at multi-tasking, detail-oriented and have good interpersonal skills. 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Undergraduate Degree in Economics / Finance / Accounting related discipline 
  • 3+ years financial services experience; prior corporate derivative experience preferred
  • Highly motivated and adaptable: ability to respond creatively and quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure, changing environment
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills: able to manage multiple tasks and competing work streams
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency: experience analyzing data and summarizing results to produce succinct high-impact presentations
  • Identifies as a team player 
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accurate and detail-oriented with sound judgment and integrity
  • Keen interest in the financial markets
