We are seeking a social media expert and experienced team leader to spearhead efforts related to executive thought leadership and social media listening/monitoring. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and natural collaborator with a desire to help bring a new team together and build social media expertise for the larger Corporate Affairs & Communication group. The ideal candidate will have vast experience running social media teams for consumer brands and relationships with the major social media platforms.

As part of the Corporate Affairs & Communications team, we are focused on protecting and enhancing the PayPal brand, amplifying innovation, and driving our transformation narrative. Through strategic communication and engagement efforts—inclusive of but not limited to social—we position our senior executives as thought leaders, generate positive news coverage, and enhance employee loyalty by fostering a strong sense of culture and community.

As the Head of Social Listening & Employer Brand Social Media Strategy, you will: 

  • Lead a team of 7+ social experts located around the world 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and communications skills to effectively collaborate with the various lines of business leaders, as well as peers across Marketing and Communications
  • Build and oversee content calendar and publishing across LinkedIn and X; collaborate effectively with Marketing Social Team counterparts on content across all other social media channels
  • Lead efforts to identify critical articles and posts with potential reputational impact and ensure proper escalation and resolution
  • Drive the employer brand program on social telling the story of why PayPal is a great place to work
  • Oversee the execution of a new thought leadership program for key PayPal leaders across various social media platforms
  • Collaborate with content and production leads to ensure best-in-class social content
  • Manage vendor relationships with LinkedIn and X and serve as channel expert for the team including socializing best practices, new features, pilot opportunities, etc. 
  • Drive regular planning and metric reporting for social storytelling on LinkedIn and X, along with Social Listening in alignment with department planning and reporting cadences 
  • At times, after-hours and weekend work is needed due to a global team and in response to fast-moving world events and dynamic company shifts impacting the PayPal community 

Qualities of the right candidate for this role: 

  • 10+ years relevant experience in social, corporate communications, and PR 
  • Proven experience leading and developing a team of 5+ people 
  • A strong manager-doer, not just an ideas person. You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves while also managing and empowering your team 
  • Comfortable in ambiguous situations and fast-paced environments 
  • Possesses a curious, learning mindset. You are looking out for what works and why 
  • Able to build strategic working relationships; has exceptional interpersonal communication skills; comfortable working closely with, and providing counsel to, senior leaders 
  • Has the emotional maturity to influence and drive alignment, demonstrating a strong understanding of organizational challenges 
  • Experience and comfort working within rapid-response communications

$118700 to $246290
