Location: The Woodlands

Amount of Travel Required: Up to 35%

Positions Supervised: HSE Supervisor

Work Schedule: Monday Friday 8:00am 5pm / On call

POSITION SUMMARY:

The HSE Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall safety, well-being and compliance of employees, operations, and environmental concerns for power generation operations to comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word 'May.')

  • Evaluates hazards throughout the organization for safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Develops operational specific health and safety procedures and programs as necessary and monitors compliance to reduce risks and protect the integrity of the company.
  • Monitors all incident investigations within assigned scope to ensure compliance with HSE standards while utilizing company specified RCA programs.
  • Maintains emergency action plans, including fire prevention, and procedures for controlling hazardous spills in accordance with government regulation, and insurance company requirements.
  • Develops inspection and audit processes and establishes regular inspection schedules to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Monitors compliance of training within assigned scope to ensure all employees meet industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Maintains applicable records and permits as well as ensuring industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Participates in professional growth to stay current with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.
  • Manage direct reports if applicable to ensure organizational needs are met.
  • Focus on growth and development of direct reports if applicable.
  • Review and approve expenses as necessary.
  • Review and help maintain company specific safety management systems as required.
  • Monitor and provide feedback on HSE systems to improve communication operations.
  • Complete all training as assigned and comply with all company standards as communicated.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successfully passes background check, pre-employment drug screening, and any pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Proficiency in spoken English language
  • Position requires in-person, predictable attendance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or related subject. Or 5-10 years related HSE experience. Power generation, turbine, reciprocating engine, manufacturing, and field service HSE experience preferred.
  • Three years of management experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills required. Strong leadership capabilities with strategic mindset.
  • Strong skill set in MS office platforms.
  • Ability to drive and inspect both outdoor and indoor areas to observe compliance with established programs.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend advanced English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attends and successfully completes annual safety and recertification training.
  • Ability to articulate and administer instruction in a positive manner within team dynamics.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change and receptive to new instructions.
  • Fully knowledgeable, compliant and takes initiative to promote and work with digital platforms including Active Learner, Paycom, KPA, and other company mandated systems. For new hires, ability to quickly learn company platforms.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with minimum supervision.

The HSE Manager works primarily indoors and will be sitting prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. They must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities, and are often times required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. HSE Manager may be required to lift heavy objects; therefore, The HSE Manager must be able to lift 49lb.s and be able to lift 50-100lbs with a team lift.

Work hours may include early morning, late afternoon/evening hours, and weekends in combination depending on job demands.
