Job Description

When you join Verizon

You want more out of a career. A place to share your ideas freely — even if they’re daring or different. Where the true you can learn, grow, and thrive. At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. In crisis and in celebration, we come together — lifting our communities and building trust in how we show up, everywhere & always. Want in? Join the V Team Life.

What you'll be doing…

You will manage a team, working closely with functional HR teams and GTS to manage projects for internal customers matching the best technology solutions to their business needs. You’ll oversee projects from needs assessment, product design, and development, through product testing and implementation. You’ll manage prioritization and status reporting to drive results and meet deadlines. You will translate business requirements into solutions with clear technical specifications and work with your team to test enhancements, troubleshoot production issues, and retest fixes. You will communicate and present prioritization, status, and project timelines to leadership.

Additional responsibilities…

  • Leading a team providing all system support to the Talent, Performance Management, and DE&I owners, including Workday configuration, workday integrations, EIBs and MOMs, troubleshooting issues, managing tier 3 help tickets, creating test plans and scenarios, and migrating projects to production.

  • Collaborating between HR functional owners, GTS, and other interested parties to support our V Team Central Talent & Performance Management Workday Application.

  • Prioritizing projects within the Talent functional areas with cross-functional partnerships as required.

  • Developing short and long-term roadmaps to achieve strategic talent initiatives.

  • Leading strategy development on best practice talent solutions.

  • Owning and managing multiple large-scale, cross-functional projects from start to finish.

  • Partnering with key vendors to drive better solutions within core products.

  • Assessing business and system needs to make decisions on technical requirements.

  • Understanding, at a high level, Workday business process framework, configurable security, report writer, integrations, and user experience.

  • Driving results, providing LOEs, and ensuring project timelines are met.

  • Providing leadership updates through regular communication and presentations.

This is a home-based role with occasional onsite meetings and training as needed. In this home-based role, you may sit anywhere in the continental US.

What we're looking for…

No one runs a project like you do - on your watch, nothing gets missed. You view a problem as a puzzle you’d like to solve. You ask good questions to understand what the business needs and how to respond with the best technology solutions. You are highly analytical, process and detail-oriented. You’re no stranger to tight timelines and competing priorities and you are able to manage both. You’re a great communicator with strong partnership skills and the ability to build results-oriented relationships with customers. You know how to engage your team, set clear standards, remove barriers, problem solve, and you’re committed to helping everyone do their best work.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Project management experience.

  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 25% of the time.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • A degree.

  • Talent Management/Performance configuration & integration experience in Workday.

  • Workday configuration experience.

  • A strong understanding of industry best practices across talent.

  • Experience presenting to all levels of the organization.

  • Experience in Human Resources, preferably HRIS or IT.

  • Experience managing a team.

  • Experience designing system requirements.

  • Experience building testing plans and scenarios.

  • Experience resolving technical issues with minimal direction.

  • Experience with agile methodology including Sprint planning and leading scrum calls.

  • Strong partnership skills that build results-oriented relationships with customers.

  • Experience with ticket tracking systems (preferably JIRA).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization.

  • The ability to work independently with limited direction.

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.

Where you’ll be working
