Job Description

The Certificate Management team is located within the Service Transition branch of Navy Federal’s Enterprise Technology Services (ETS). The department is responsible for Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate management including the generation of X.509 certificates, renewing, and revoking digital certificates, automating certificate installations, and other PKI best practices that keep NFCU’s public key infrastructure functioning at an optimal level without service interruptions.  These certificates authenticate the identity of users, devices, or services to secure sensitive electronic information as it is passed back and forth between two parties and provides each party with a key to encrypt and decrypt the digital data.

The successful candidate will gain valuable insight into Navy Federal’s business, technology, and procedures while providing support in the focused service area of certificate management.  This role will also interact with multiple departments in accomplishment of their assignments and provide professional execution of day-to-day tasks and special projects while working within established standards, policies, and procedures.

Qualifications

  •     Must be enrolled and pursuing a degree from an accredited college/university

    Responsibilities

  •     Provide support to assigned department; may work on small projects or portions of larger projects as directed

  •     Support business strategy and initiatives within the business unit

  •     Assist and collaborate with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks/assignments

  •     Perform research and analysis; may include quantitative and/or qualitative analysis

  •     Maintain professionalism in all interactions, placing member service as priority

  •     Provide comprehensive day-to-day operational support

  •     Provide support in functional areas of the credit union

  •     Process and update data in automated systems; may generate and analyze reports

  •     Interact with Navy Federal vendors (business partners) to acquire or provide digital certificates

  •     Create ServiceNow change tickets to support certificate change activities across environments

  •     Perform other duties as assigned

    Projects

  •     Working with an experienced Certificate Engineer, engage all necessary parties to accomplish required certificate maintenance

  •     Work on automated certificate deployments to servers and appliances, in both On-Prem and Cloud Kubernetes environments, using Venafi API and PowerShell 

  •     Document certificate related outages and root cause analysis
