Machine Learning Scientist in CV, NLP and multi-modal based doc understanding and processing

Job Description:

PayPal Global Analytics and Data Science team(GADS) is looking for a Machine Learning Scientist to join the team and take an important role in one of the team’s current domains – building horizontal data science projects, infrastructures and solutions serving all data science teams in GADS, focusing on enabling complex insights from our data by leveraging Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and multi-modal techniques.

Principal job responsibilities include data science projects based on cutting-edge modelling tech/infra/data sources to serve other GDS teams to deliver higher standard products, investigating and establishing understanding on production feasibilities, and communication with up/downstream teams to make everything happen, while playing a key part of creating a new team from scratch. During this process, we will provide detailed guidance on to-dos and ensure a fast ramp-up.

As a Machine Learning Scientist in PayPal’s Global Data Science organization, you will have an impact on PayPal’s Merchant and Consumer products all around the world. Our scientists work to better understand our end-users, identify opportunities and improve our products by creating personal and smart experiences. Making use of PayPal’s endless amount of data, you will leverage your data and machine learning skills, for research and delivery of end-to-end Data Science solutions.

• Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, etc.)

• More than 2 year of experience as a data scientist. Capable of independently working on a ML project with guidance. 
• Code writing capability in common programming language for MLE(Python and SQL is a must.) and familiarity with relevant ML packages (TF, Pytorch, etc.). Familarity with Linux environments is a plus.
• Familiarity with LLMs, multi-modal LLMs is a plus.
• Basic spoken and written English. Excellent English comm – an advantage
• Clear analytical mindset and deep understanding of ML
• Team worker, responsible, delivery-oriented
