Job Description

Lead a team to provide advanced analytics support for the BSA/AML & OFAC Compliance Team. Directs the aggregation and analysis of customer and transaction data to mitigate financial crime. Monitors data pipelines and ensures data quality. Leads the development and implementation of data-based business solutions; develops complex queries with SQL and Python to analyze data and highlight trends and issues. Provides requisite information to support independent audit activities. Serves as a key Subject Matter Expert in the implementation of new BSA technology to enhance data repositories, reporting, and analytics. Develops reporting solutions.  Implements BSA/AML and OFAC models as related to KYC, customer risk ratings, transaction monitoring. Develops and presents reports for Compliance stakeholders and coordinates analysis for the implementation of BSA/AML tools and systems, including AML transaction monitoring and sanctions screening systems. Manage daily activities of professional employees and/or supervisors. Support executive management in developing and executing strategic plans.

Qualifications
  • Extensive, progressively responsible experience leading and managing an analytics operation, preferably in a large service delivery operation
  • Expert knowledge of data querying, reporting, forecasting, analysis, and operations research, including statistical Methods and modeling
  • Extensive experience in data warehouse development lifecycle methodologies including dimensional modeling techniques, preferably with the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence Stack
  • Expert knowledge of industry procedures, policies, and practices
  • In-depth knowledge applying a broad range of analytical tools to trends and issues, and data mining and BI (business intelligence) technologies
  • Expert knowledge of automated systems in managing a call /contact center
  • Working knowledge of banking/financial industry trends, products, and services
  • Working knowledge in the use of statistical modeling software (e.g. SAS or SPSS)
  • Expert organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Extensive experience developing business or technology
  • Extensive experience demonstrating thought-leadership, initiative-taking, decision-making and creativity solving business problems

Desired Qualifications

  • ACAMS/CFE certification desired
  • Master's degree in a Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education, and experience

Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead business units to collect, aggregate, analyze, and visualize customer, product, and transaction data to identify trends and evaluate changes of customer, product, and transactional risk exposure.
  • Apply data from BSA/AML Compliance Department stakeholders to translate qualitative risk factors into responsive risk models that leverage new technology.
  • Work with internal and external business partners and vendors to develop and test tools and systems in line with policy and regulatory expectations.
  • Apply economic, quantitative, and statistical skills in the development of tools and systems.
  • Develop knowledge of new analytical techniques and data sources that provide ongoing risk mitigation, and how emerging data and technology issues may impact the achievement of BSA/AML Compliance Department’s objectives.
  • Collaborates with Model Owners, Model Risk Management, and various stakeholders throughout the organization to translate business requirements to technical requirements for model development, enhancement, tuning, optimization, and monitoring of model performance in support of BSA/AML & OFAC laws, regulations, and frameworks.
  • Execute BSA/AML & OFAC Compliance Risk Models, support project implementation impacting Compliance and its areas of oversight and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to design various performance metrics.
  • Perform analytical research in support of the Compliance Department, with a strong focus on BSA/AML & OFAC, including the design, development, and implementation of information-based business solutions.
  • Develop complex inquiries with SQL, Python and ETL to perform analyses of the underlying data in our systems and highlight trends, issues, and findings. Develop reporting solutions, including designing stored procedures, view queries, and tables.
  • Serve as a key Subject Matter Expert in the implementation of new technology initiatives to enhance the Compliance data repositories, reporting, analytics, and overall program with a strong focus on BSA/AML & OFAC compliance.
  • Manage and lead business intelligence development, including requirements gathering, design, production implementation and maintenance
  • Creates data reporting and analytics for BSA/AML and OFAC 
  • Develop and executes strategy and/or policies to achieve key business objectives
  • Oversee project management of multiple reporting, dashboard development, ad-hoc analysis and data initiatives
  • Optimize business operations' performance by analyzing current and forecasting future performance to support strategic initiatives
  • Evaluate/develop/implement analytical techniques and best practices to gain a competitive advantage
  • Communicate changes of reporting framework and life cycle processes to business community
  • Maintain understanding of business direction, environment and strategies and work closely with stakeholders to ensure analytic output addresses business needs
  • Oversee team to mine large datasets for new sources of information to better understand drivers of member experience and operational performance
  • Partner with internal business partners and external vendors to ensure successful data integration/engineering, and data warehousing
  • Generate and clarify decisions, recommendations and/or solutions focused on optimizing business efficiencies via data collection, manipulation and analysis
  • Ensure that data processing standards, guidelines, procedures, controls and best practices are followed across the department
  • Develop dashboards leveraging best practices in data visualization and champion the use across the department
  • Lead the development of reports, studies, and solutions to improve channel experiences, manage operational performance, and inform strategic direction
  • Lead the development and maintenance of databases to ensure operational efficiency and reduce operational risk
  • Identify and resolve operational and performance gaps and obstacles; develop and implement changes and improvements
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and NFCU policies and procedures
  • Participate in organization-wide project teams; monitor projects assigned to the department and ensure milestones are completed on schedule
  • Collaborate with ISD and Strategy Management to design and build the technology infrastructure necessary to achieve data-driven analytic solutions
  • Develop and implement new/updated policies, procedures, goals and priorities as necessitated by demands, changing conditions, and/or management request
  • Develop and maintain team-specific components of the Division Annual Financial Plan (AFP)
