Operational Risk focuses on the development and implementation of risk assessment frameworks designed to identify, measure, monitor and manage risk exposures associated with systems, people, processes and external events.

DIVISIONS AND JOB FUNCTIONS

Risk aims to effectively identify, monitor, evaluate and manage the firm’s financial and operational risks - including reputational risk - in support of the firm’s strategic plan. Operating in a fast-changing environment and utilizing the best in class risk framework, Risk teams are analytically curious, have an aptitude for challenges and an unwavering commitment to excellence.

  • Operational Risk Management and Analysis Department, an independent risk management function as part of the Risk business, is responsible for developing and implementing a standardized framework to identify, measure and monitor operational risks across the firm. The role is for a professional with deep subject matter expertise dedicated to actively employing and strengthening the components of the firm’s operational risk management framework.

Global Banking & Markets make markets in and clear client transactions on major stock, options and futures exchanges worldwide. Through our global sales force, we maintain relationships with our clients, receiving orders and distributing investment research, trading ideas, market information and analysis.

  • Global Banking & Markets Operational Risk is a team of risk specialists aligned with our Equities, Prime and FICC front to back sales and trading groups to deliver an integrated approach to serving our global client franchise. The first line ERM employs key components of the firm risk management framework to continuously measure and assess levels of risk for existing/new processes.  In addition to being affiliated with specific product and/or functional areas, first line ERMs partner with the second line Risk Division in order to improve consistency of risk measure and assessment practices. 

Corporate Planning & Management unifies Finance & Planning, Spend Management, Operational Risk and Resilience, and CPM Engineering teams to deliver business planning and analytics, expense management, third party risk management, sustainability strategy for our operations and supply chain, and governance strategies across the firm. 

  • Operational Risk drives firmwide Operational Risk programs along with second line teams and implements required changes within Corporate Planning & Management. Conforms to Operational Risk and Resilience policy and standards for Corporate Planning & Management as a division and manages related risks. This pillar also includes the Third Party Risk Management team, responsible for identifying, managing, monitoring and reporting third party risks and providing governance and operational frameworks for all the firm’s third-parties. The Corporate Insurance & Advisory team in this pillar identifies, procures, and manages corporate insurance needs for the firm and its investing businesses, facilitates the mapping of operational and credit risk to insurance solutions and provides insurance advisory support for firmwide activities and claims advocacy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3-10 years of prior work experience in a relevant field. 
  • Proficient to advanced skills with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • Team player with positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a variety of industries and businesses
  • Ability to self-direct, analyze and evaluate and form independent judgments
  • Ability to effectively interact and build relationships with senior management and global stakeholders 
  • Commercially savvy with ability to exercise discretion with respect to highly confidential/sensitive information
  • Integrity, ethical standards and sound judgment
