Job Summary:


Under general direction with a high level of autonomy, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience, to solicit, develop and service a wide variety of the most complex commercial loans and sensitive client relationships. Provides guidance to other lenders. Influences strategic direction and develops tactical plans and completes complex assignments with substantial latitude for unreviewed actions or decisions. Provides comprehensive solutions to complex problems or needs. End results are evaluated for achieving goals and objectives. Extensive contact with external customers is required to develop, sell or service products.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance and direction to less experienced lenders in analyzing financial data and evaluating credit worthiness.
  • Interprets, applies and recommends changes to credit policies and procedures.
  • May assist in the development of credit policies
  • Contacts customers and prospects to market loan demand deposit products.
  • Advises senior management on complex commercial lending issues.
  • Interviews loan applicants.
  • Obtains, interprets and evaluates financial information to determine credit worthiness and make decisions at the highest lending limits.
  • Handles difficult negotiations and credit assessments on an independent basis.
  • Creates a pipeline of business of secure, profitable loans, deposits and specialty commercial finance services.
  • Maintains a customer/prospect database.
  • Develops and maintains a balanced and sound loan portfolio in conformance with established policies, strategies and procedures.
  • Structures and prices loans, negotiates with customers and obtains approvals.
  • Monitors existing loans to ensure compliance with terms of the loan and takes corrective action on variances.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Advanced concepts, practices and procedures of commercial lending.
  • Loan portfolios, capital lines, equipment term loans, and commercial real estate and Small Business Administration (SBA) loans.
  • Established organizational policies, strategies and procedures for commercial lending.
  • Principles of banking and finance.
  • Financial markets and products.

Skill in:

  • Analyzing financial information and determining credit worthiness.
  • Interpreting and applying credit policies and procedures.
  • Developing credit policies
  • Marketing loan demand deposit products.
  • Negotiating commercial loan terms.
  • Maintaining a customer and prospect database.
  • Developing and maintaining a loan portfolio.
  • Structuring and pricing commercial loans.
  • Verifying customer compliance with terms
  • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications.

  • Provide guidance and direction to less experienced commercial lenders.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in finance, accounting or business administration and eight (8) years commercial lending experience with an emphasis on commercial real estate.
