General Summary:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • A successful candidate will join Qualcomm Japan Automotive Product Marketing team as a senior manager (or a staff manager depending on skills & experience) in charge of products & technologies listed below:
    • SoC and various software components for ADAS/AD ECU.
    • NPU, GPU
    • Neural Network for image classification, segmentation, detection, estimation, object behavior prediction, route planning, etc.
    • Various sensors including camera, LiDAR, radar, etc.
  • This person will lead & contribute to the promotion of products & technologies listed above through discussions with car OEMs, Tier 1s, Tier 2s, and our partners developing automotive vehicles & various components going into them, e.g., cars, ADAS ECUs, HPCs, etc. while closely cooperating with various internal teams such as sales, business development, engineering.
  • This person’s tasks include the following:
    • To understand Qualcomm products lineup, including technical aspects, and then, to promote them to customers.
    • To seek out demands for new features & new products through frequent communication with customers such as car OEMs, Tier 1s, Tier 2s, and our partners.
    • To be always on top of rapidly evolving requirements & demand from the market.
    • To define or help define requirements for the new features & products while closely aligning with various teams including Product Management, Development, Technology teams at Qualcomm Headquarter, and other locations worldwide.
    • To ensure our products incorporate the new and important features within the appropriate schedule to hit the market at the right timing through daily communication with Product Management team members.
    • To ensure customers understand & to facilitate the customers to evaluate new features & products so that they confirm desired & planned results are achieved.
    • To track all issues during the above process – including RFI & RFQ -- and to involve relevant members from Engineering, Product Management, Executive teams, etc. for ensuring to provide answers & solutions to customers in a timely manner.
  • This person’s performance is measured by the revenue from products and technologies s/he is directly in charge of, and also influence s/he makes on other products.
  • Please note depending on the interests of him/her and the company, we may adjust responsibilities from time to time as Qualcomm itself will continue evolving.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of embedded system/product development or design experience. 3+ years of project management experience. Understanding of embedded system product development cycle.
  • Engineering understanding of technologies used by ADAS/AD systems.
  • Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and the concept of functional safety.
  • Business level fluency in Japanese & English, and professional experience working in international teams.
  • Engineering bachelor's degree or higher. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product Marketing experience in charge of ADAS/AD SoC & software, Neural Network, NPU, GPU, etc.
  • This person will find the following useful:
    • Strong discipline for driving multi-year technology evolution cycles in a consistent manner.
    • Agility for managing changing market demands.
    • Ability to maintain the understanding of rapidly evolving automotive requirements and regulatory requirements through daily access to relevant documents (mostly in English) available from customers, industry organizations, internally, etc.
    • Strength in logical thought process, and a skill to explain it concisely.
    • Ability to negotiate successfully in a cooperative manner internally and externally.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 6+ years of Product Marketing, Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree or equivalent degree and 8+ years of Product Marketing, Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related work experience.
OR
High school Diploma or equivalent and 10+ years of Product Marketing, Marketing, Business, Engineering, Communications, or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
