About this Role

FiberTel is looking for an outstanding QA/QC Inspector for our SunZia project! We have two locations and need one QA/QC Inspector for each location, Clines Corner, NM and Corona, NM.

The QA/QC Inspector job will be to fully document daily activities on each respective project including but not limited to run time for machines, down time for machines and crews, any delays whether customer/client related or internal delays.  They will document the quality for the project and any inconsistencies, etc.  This is a full-time position, and the candidate will be required to live (temporarily) and work at the project sites.

Pay: $25-30/hr or $80-100k/yr + $150/day Per Diem, + company truck

What You'll Do

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and approve all QA/QC forms submitted from field inspectors.
  • Create, update and maintain the project submittal log and all other project-specific quality control reports
  • Review drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by direct review and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the project team when necessary
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes as described in project-specific contract documents
  • Provide daily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed in conformance with each specific project's established standard and constructively confronts non-conformances to produce the desired outcome in a timely manner
  • Conduct preparatory, initial, and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of work
  • Verify and documents that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately, and are acceptable for use in the project
  • Coordinate and document the testing and commissioning of building systems
  • Perform quality control testing and inspection in adherence with contract requirements and company best practices

What You'll Bring

Qualifications: 

  • Willingness to travel long-term or already be local.
  • 1-3 years of experience, Utility Construction preferred.
  • This position will be assigned a work vehicle so you must be comfortable driving a work vehicle.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must have a high school degree or GED; required
  • Familiar with industry construction practices and construction standards
  • Must pass mandatory drug and alcohol screening(s)
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and applicable safety software

Working Conditions: 

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels. 

Physical Requirements: 

The employee will need to have the ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling. The employee will need to be able to regularly lift 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
