Purpose of Position:

Avon Protection Ceradyne, a subsidiary of Avon Technologies, is looking to hire for the position of Quality Engineer. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System compliant to ISO 9001:2015 in the production of Thermoplastic molded ballistic helmets. This person will oversee and lead tracking of quality metric and build improvements of those metrics, in addition to assisting in the development and implementation of new 
products/processes, as needed.

Essential duties and/or Functions: 

  • Lead corrective action investigations arising from: customer complaints, audit findings, process issues, etc.
  • Manage audit program compliant to ISO 9001:2015
  • Develop manufacturing documentation complaint to ISO 9001:2015 (writing processes, manufacturing logs, quality control plans, etc.)
  • Interact with suppliers and customers to resolve product issues
  • Track and respond to manufacturing quality metrics including, yield, DPPM, scrap, etc.
  • Work with operations staff on documentation implementation, process updates, etc.
  • Work with R&D staff to implement new processes and develop documentation for new products.
  • Prepare, operate, and maintain test equipment through calibration and standardization procedures.
  • Operate experimental, prototype, or production test equipment. May also order and maintain supply of needed materials.
  • Document and interpret test results, maintain records, and prepare detailed reports as required. Communicate test results to appropriate staff. Respond to standard inquiries.
  • Complete special requests from engineers, managers and/or supervisors. Participate as a team member on problem solving teams.
  • Actively participate in Lean processes or projects (standard work reviews, Tier 1 meeting, Kaizen events)
  • Proactively initiate personal learning in additional work areas, processes and Lean manufacturing practices

Required Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in engineering or similar field
  • 2 years or more Quality experience, preferably in a Manufacturing environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Have experience and working knowledge in the Microsoft Office suite of applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Must be "hands on" with strong problem-solving acumen
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to details
  • Bring ideas to management and be able to implement necessary process improvements.
  • Experience and knowledge in Quality Systems compliant with ISO 9001:2015

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Salem, NH is $65,000 to $85,000 annually.  The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
