RISK BUSINESS 

The Risk Business identifies, monitors, evaluates, and manages the firm’s financial and non-financial risks in support of the firm’s Risk Appetite Statement and the firm’s strategic plan. Overview: To ensure uncompromising accuracy and timeliness in the delivery of the risk metrics, our platform is continuously growing and evolving. Risk Engineering combines the principles of Computer Science, Mathematics and Finance to produce large scale, computationally intensive calculations of risk Goldman Sachs faces with each transaction we engage in. You will work with a team of talented engineers to drive the build & adoption of common tools, platforms, and applications. The team builds solutions that are offered as a software product or as a hosted service. A glimpse of the interesting problems that we engineer solutions for, include acquiring high quality data, storing, performing risk computations in limited amount of time using distributed computing, and making data available to enable actionable risk insights through analytical and response user interfaces.

Risk Engineering 

As a VP, in the Risk Engineering team you will: 

  • Manage overall initiatives or specific work streams within a broader enterprise risk management initiative 
  • Work with Risk Engineering and Risk Division teams to understand business problems and deliver technology enabled solutions 
  • Help Risk Engineering teams to clear roadblocks and deliver solutions 
  • Interact with business users for resolving issues with applications 
  • Drive and contribute to project decision-making 
  • Work with other engineering and functional teams in Goldman Sachs 

WHAT WE LOOK FOR 

  • Self-starter and quick leaner comfortable working in a dynamic engineering environment 
  • Solid understanding of financial / banking industry with in-depth knowledge of Risk Management and/or Data Governance preferred 
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • Analytical problem solver and critical thinker able to examine current processes, propose improvements, socialize to obtain stakeholder feedback and build consensus 
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently 
  • Collaborate efficiently within a diverse global team spanning multiple continents 
  • Build consensus across teams; think and implement stable and scalable designs 
  • Drive and Motivation - Successfully handles multiple tasks, takes initiative to improve his/her own performance, works intensely towards extremely challenging goals and persists in the face of obstacles or setbacks 
  • Client and Business Focus - Effectively handles difficult requests, builds trusting, long-term relationships with clients, helps the client to identify/define needs and manages client/business expectations 
  • Communication Skills - Communicates what is relevant and important in a clear and concise manner, shares information/new ideas with others, and demonstrates judgment to escalate as appropriate 
  • Judgment and Problem Solving - Thinks ahead, anticipates questions, plans for contingencies, finds alternative solutions and identifies clear objectives. Sees the big picture and effectively analyzes complex issues 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, finance or related discipline 
  • 6-9 years of transformation, strategy and/or product management experience 
  • Knowledge of functional areas such as engineering, user experience, project management, transformational change management, data governance 
  • Technologies: JIRA, Word, Excel, Analytical tools such as Python or Tableau. 
  • Must work well in a global team, multi-tasking environment and under pressure 
  • The ability (and tenacity) to clearly express ideas and arguments in meetings and on paper (i.e., great written and verbal communications skills) 
  • Ability to navigate large data sets, develop metrics and perform analysis is a plus 
  • Experience in financial industry is a plus

Salary Range 

The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $150000-$250000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
