Safety and Compliance Supervisor

Department: Operational HSE

FLSA Status: Salary Exempt           

Reports To: HSE Regional Manager

Location: Northeast- PA Region

Amount of Travel Required: 80-100%      

Work Schedule: M-F and on-call rotation

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide safety, and loss prevention leadership. Responsible for recommending and supporting company shrink control, and safety programs that support reduction of accident/incident frequency and reduce shrink and other losses while embracing the company's safety and loss prevention philosophy and culture. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word 'May.')

  • Evaluates hazards on location for safety, health, and environmental risks.
  • Supports crew in all efforts to safely perform their jobs by making sure we are approaching safety through engineering, administration, and using personal protective equipment as a last line of defense.
  • Develops health and safety procedures and programs for all departments and monitors safety compliance to reduce risks.
  • Maintains contingency plans, including fire prevention, procedures for controlling hazardous spills in accordance with government regulation, insurance company requirements, emergency action plans.
  • Supervises maintenance of material safety data sheets so they are accessible at all times according to regulations.
  • Develops inspection policies and establishes regular inspection schedules.
  •  Administers new hire onboarding, supervises training sessions for emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, and forklift safety.
  • Maintains EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to OSHA regulations.
  • Monitors professional literature and attends seminars to stay current with governmental compliance requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successfully passes background check, including MVR, and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Possesses a valid U.S. Driver’s License.
  • Daily in-person, predictable attendance.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel within assigned Region, driving to various locations as necessary.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5-7 years of experience in occupational safety and health, environmental science, or related subject.
  • Hydraulic fracturing operation or electrical operations experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend advanced English.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Possess intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft platforms (Office, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • High proficiency in utilizing learning management systems and other training technologies.
  • Ability to attend, participate, and successfully complete the scheduled New Hire Safety training, including but not limited to H2S, Powered Industrial, and basic First Aid and CPR training.
  • Attends and successfully completes annual safety and recertification training.
  • Ability to articulate and administer instruction in a positive manner within team dynamics.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change and receptive to new instructions.
  • Fully knowledgeable, compliant and takes initiative to promote and work with digital platforms including Active Learner, Paycom, KPA, and other company mandated systems. For new hires, ability to quickly learn company platforms.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with minimum.

The Safety and Compliance Supervisor position is subjected to extensive driving, therefore must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Work environment includes both indoor, office settings, and outdoor field exposure. When working indoors in an office setting, Safety and Compliance Supervisor may sit for extended periods of time at a desk station, keyboarding and using repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and or fingers. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus while reading and staring at computer monitor. They will also need to speak clearly and audibly, as well as have the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and /or other sounds (e.g., building alarms) deriving from in person speech, telephone, or other remote speech. No adverse environmental conditions are expected. Additionally, they may be called upon to stand, kneel, push, pull, reach overhead, stoop, crouch, climb, and lift; therefore, person should be able to lift 25 lbs. independently.  When outdoors and visiting field locations and warehouse facilities, they are exposed to hazardous materials and operating conditions, including typical and atypical outdoor elements and extreme cold and hot weather temperatures, and audio up to 85 dB. Given these conditions, employees are required to wear company mandated and issued personal protective equipment (PPE) (fire retardant coveralls, safety hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear protection and safety gloves to include face shields and chemical aprons as necessary) and must strictly adhere to all safety policies.

Work hours may include early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on job demands.
