What you’ll be doing...

The Technology and Product Development (TPD) team is seeking a Sr Director of Security Architecture to lead, inspire and grow the TPD Product Security organization. This leader will constantly innovate to provide process changes, technology adoption, and security tooling to our internal product managers, engineers and owners. In this role, the Sr. Director is responsible for strategy, architecture, development and management of both the VBG and VCG Product Security portfolios.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a strategic and transformative approach to the TPD Product Security organization with the ultimate goal of increasing speed to market with security built in.

  • Enable security excellence by designing, architecting and validating best-in-class security processes for Verizon Products, Platforms and Services.

  • Build and promote a strong security engineering culture to infuse security at every step while maintaining a solid pace.

  • Work with Network, VCS and VGS Global Solutions security teams to drive end to end security solution for our products.

  • Scale and modernize a product security framework using emerging technologies to address Product Owners challenges.

  • Expand architecture and ease of integration to leverage existing solutions to scale quickly.

  • Provide best-in-class quality, productivity and delivery standards for all priority programs.

  • Ensure clear leadership messaging.

  • Increase transparency and promote thought leadership.

  • Inform, engage and energize the TPD product security team towards driving transformation and delivering business priorities.

  • Focus on creating a learning culture with emphasis on talent transformation.

  • Have sustained focus towards maintaining and strengthening Security, Governance & Compliance related practices for all security requirements throughout the TPD product security organization through defined frameworks and clear implementation plans.

  • Promote, build, and improve functional security programs, including but not limited to, threat modeling, penetration testing, risk management and compliance.



What we’re looking for...

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; Master’s degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in the technology industry.

  • 5+ years of relevant people leadership experience.

  • Must possess a solid understanding of technology selection.

  • Proven ability for cross-team and cross-functional collaboration at leadership level to achieve strategic, enterprise-wide goals.

  • Must be well-versed in current security trends and must possess strong leadership skills, strategic thinking, and business acumen.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate highly complex technical concepts and processes to the language of business.

  • Risk management and security architecture expertise.

  • Experience in driving the overall strategy related to propelling security to the next gear

  • Expertise in complex systems, secure platform development, innovation and technology led security transformation.

  • Experience managing and leading a team of direct reports including talent development to ensure resources keep up with changing skill set requirements.

  • Knowledge of S-SDLC, best practices for secure coding.

  • Understanding of OWASP Top 10, CIS Top 20.

Even better if you have…

  • Experience with security requirements analyses, building threat models, performing security design reviews, applying zero trust principles.

  • Knowledge of application security vulnerabilities, secure coding, attack surfaces and countermeasures.

  • Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, container security best practices.

  • Experience and understanding of Threat Management and Monitoring tools (like CrowdStrike, GuardDuty, Tenable, CloudTrail, Cloudwatch) and container security tools.

  • Experience with building security and hardening Cloud Containers, Cloud OS, on-premise/cloud storage, like Cassandra, MongoDB, Data Warehouse and Object-Based storage.



Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.

If you are hired into a California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maryland, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. work location, the compensation range for this position is between $215,000.00 and $399,000.00 annually based on a full-time schedule. The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
