The Senior Director Renewable Energy will be part of the Treasury team.  This role is responsible for leading the strategy and execution of Verizon’s Renewable Energy, primarily through the execution of Virtual Renewable Energy Purchase Agreements (REPAs).  You will be responsible for developing and managing Verizon’s renewable energy portfolio to meet Verizon’s Sustainability goals while mitigating financial risk.  Significant experience in the North American Renewable Energy is preferred. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify new projects and opportunities to meet Verizon’s renewable and sustainability goals while maintaining strong partnership with current and new developers 
  • Negotiate and execute new REPAs with renewable energy developers
  • Work collaboratively with external energy consultants, internal & external counsels 
  • Manage the renewable energy portfolio including front and back-office activities such as tracking of project milestones, project performance, and contract renegotiations  
  • Oversee the Virtual REPA settlement process including monthly cash settlements and annual REC retirements
  • Develop VZ renewable energy budget/ forecast working closely w/ FP&A and Global Real Estate
  • Formulate hedging strategy to optimize portfolio as needed
  • Ensure activities are in compliance with treasury and governance policies, accounting guidelines, and internal SOX controls
  • Ensure reporting compliance and alignment with Verizon’s overall ESG reporting
  • Attract, develop and retain talent to promote a culture of high-performance

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant finance and renewable energy related experience
  • Strong corporate finance and deep knowledge of renewable energy industry/ markets
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated experience applying strategic thinking, leadership and direction across functional teams to meet objectives

Education and Certification

  • Bachelor degree and/or equivalent work experience
  • MBA or advanced degree in Finance preferred
  • CFA, CPA preferred


Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
