Job Description:

The Opportunity:

CACI is looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to support a newly established research and development environment. This environment provides a secure and compliant foundation for work across programs, utilizing a mix of on-prem and cloudbased technologies. You will be a member of the corporate IT department working alongside highly skilled senior-level engineers delivering exceptional services and support to our programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux systems and related technologies.

  • Develop automated Linux OS builds for both servers and workstations, whether virtual or physical.

  • Leverage Red Hat Satellite and/or Ubuntu Landscape for management and patching of Linux systems.

  • Utilize Centrify for LDAP services.

  • Create Splunk dashboards for troubleshooting and analysis.

  • Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve complex system issues.

  • Engage with related technologies, including:

    o Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)

    o Cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure

    o Virtualization technologies such as Nutanix and VMware

    o Supporting technologies including LDAP/Active Directory, Identity Management, Authentication, Load Balancing, Patch Management, and Security tools.

    Qualifications:

    Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of in-depth experience with expert-level knowledge of some or all of the following:

    o Red Hat and Ubuntu

    o Custom OS Automated Installation – Kickstart, Scripting

    o Red Hat Satellite Repositories and Remote Execution [REX]

    o Privileged Access Management - Centrify

    o Full Disk encryption - SecureDoc

    o Scripting languages - BASH/Python

    o Patch and package management – Tanium/JFrog Artifactory

    o Containerization – Podman/Docker o Implement security hardening measures, ensure compliance with industry standards like NIST, and contribute to vulnerability management efforts.

    o Device Control - USBGuard

  • Understanding of cloud and virtualization technologies:

    o Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure

    o VMware vSphere, Nutanix AHV

  • Familiarity with supporting technologies, including:

    o LDAP, Identity Management/Authentication, Load Balancing

    o Cisco SDA

    o Splunk

    o SCAP

    o Monitoring and logging tools

    o Configuration management systems

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with engineering support staff and management across teams.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives for operational procedures and create and maintain documentation.

  • Capable of both leading and collaborating effectively within a team environment.

  • Willingness to propose new ideas and thoughtfully challenge the status quo.

  • The role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and observational skills, along with a sharp focus on accuracy.
