Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role-

You will lead the end-end development and implementation of advanced machine learning solutions to reduce losses due to Fraud. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and deliver scalable ML models that keeps learning and preventing the fraud attacks.

Meet our team

Join PayPal’s core Fraud Data Science team within the Global Analytics Data Science (GADS) organisation, to help build next-gen solutions that reduces fraud across the PayPal ecosystem ranging from onboarding, identity, money movement, loss recovery etc. Fraud management is bottom line to business with dynamic landscape due to constantly changing patterns and attacks. Our solutions advance beyond high benchmark and requires on-going research and state-of-the-art techniques in ML/DL/anomaly detection/continuous learning to push the envelope.

In this role at PayPal, you'll directly impact the business by reducing the loss due to fraud attacks at different stages in the PayPal ecosystem. You’ll work with domain expert teams like cyber security, investigations, vulnerability detection, proactive fraud prevention and you’ll also work with business teams who are product owners like crypto wallet owners, 2 factor authentication product owners, 3rd party billing agreement owners etc. Your models help the business teams and expert teams to prevent fraud as early as possible, reduce loss and improve the KPIs. 

Your day to day 

In your day to day role you will:

- Build ML/DL models for fraud prevention, analyse fraud patterns, create and adopt advanced proprietary fraud prevention mechanisms.

- Leverage state of the art algorithms and techniques for fraud prevention. Research new algorithms/approaches to better our ecosystem. 

- Overcome challenges presented by big data, evolving fraud techniques and new payment technologies by leveraging ML expertise, domain expertise, analysis skills and understanding evolving fraud patterns.

- Ownership of model development process from start to finish and work closely with business team and strategy team to solve the problem at hand.

What do you need to bring

- Bachelors with 4+ years of experience or Masters with 2+ years of experience or PhD with 2+ years of research experience specialised in Data science, Computer science, Artificial Intelligence, information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Cybersecurity or any related field.

- Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms, probability, statistics, data science, A/B testing, analysis of ML models. Deep learning algorithms understanding is a plus.

- Hands-on experience in end-to-end ML lifecycle:- data analysis, feature engineering, feature selection, technique selection & implementation, hyper-parameter tuning, deployment and maintenance in production.

- Proficiency in programming languages like Python/R etc. (Python preferable) and ML frameworks like Tensorflow, PyTorch, Caffe etc.

- Hands on with SQL, to be able to pull data from various upstream sources and transform it.

- Proven track record of delivering actionable insights and driving business impact through data-driven decision-making.
