This role is part of the Revolve Credit Risk Platform team within PayPal’s Credit Risk Org. This position involves full-time, hands-on development in a scrum team of 6-8 engineers. Expect a fast-paced environment where innovation is encouraged, and your contributions will be essential to the team's success

As an engineer, you'll be instrumental in safeguarding our platform and enabling risk free transactions. You'll work on cutting-edge technologies and frameworks, solving complex problems that deals with mission critical application, and making a direct impact on the lives of millions of users

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Build highly efficient and highly resilient risk platform for PayPal to manage the fraud risk of core payment products
  • Deliver risk features for enterprise critical initiatives to present most frictionless checkout and payment experience
  • Create rich data pipeline and offline dataset for business to develop strategic guidance
  • Design, develop and implement engineering solutions (Applications, Microservices, tools, systems, infrastructures)
  • Code highly available, testable, scalable, monitor-able components using primarily Java.
  • Work with RISK infrastructure and platform teams to design, develop and support Risk APIs to detect and prevent fraud
  • Monitor real-time ATB (availability to business) of Risk services that directly impacts decision capability of transactions through Pay Pal.
  • Analyze users' needs and provide quick and efficient solutions for real-time issues
  • Build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms.
  • Collaborate with products team to gather requirements and create software prototypes where necessary.
  • Monitor production environments, code rollouts and setup post release processes and checklists.
  • Work with architects and DTLs to validate designs, load analysis and application performance tuning, setting up event streams to publish and consume risk messages.
  • Ensure overall quality of features using test driven development, defensive coding and automation test script implementation.

What You Need to Bring:

  • A successful candidate should have at least 4 years of experience coding in a full stack or back-end environment
  • Proficiency with Java EE technologies (Java, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, Spring MVC, Hibernate is required
  • Experience with SQL & NoSQL DBs, modern database technologies, Caches, Message Queues is required
  • Good understanding of web services and Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) standards like REST, OAuth, and JSON is required
  • Candidates should have strong object-oriented programming (OOP) skills, with the ability to analyze requirements and translate them into scalable software designs.
  • Hands-on experience with REST APIs and adeptness in designing and constructing web services/microservices in a commercial environment.
  • Experience with Big Data technologies and/or AI/ML is nice to have
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or a related field is preferred but not required

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$72700 to $176000
