The Senior Director of Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for developing and directing the financial planning, P&L management, analysis, and reporting of the VBG Public Sector Business Unit consolidated results and KPIs. In this role the Director is responsible for partnering with the BU President for Public Sector including tracking Verizon’s results against budget, outlook and various in year initiatives to highlight areas of opportunity and risk. The portfolio is a mix of Wireline and Wireless. The Director will also be responsible for key governance and compliance across the business. To accomplish this the Director will lead a geographically diverse team of FP&A professionals across multiple levels. Talent development and transformation will be a focus area. In all of these deliverables, the Director will be responsible to effectively connect financial results to operational activity, driving report automation, and expanding the team’s storytelling skills and approach. 

In this role, you will work collaboratively with the Financial Planning & Analytics Services, Accounting, and Business Unit partners. In addition to the close you will be responsible for various executive level readouts and preparation meetings during the month and quarter that support CRO leadership, external results, VLC, and CFO audiences. Specifically, you will work with these cross functional teams to identify and provide insights related to performance and highlight opportunities within our financial and operational results. In delivering these insights to Finance leadership, you and your team are responsible for crafting a story and materials appropriate for the audience, in addition to backup support relevant to the materials. Finally, you will be a leader in the evolution of our business transformation reporting and analysis. You will lead a team of Finance professionals and will be responsible for staff engagement, motivation, morale, and development of direct reports, and overall team growth, including mentoring and coaching. You will provide timely feedback, guidance, and training to help attain departmental goals.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:

  • Finance Leader for VZ Public Sector Business Unit

  • Lead a team of Finance professionals.

  • Analyze financial and accounting data to create a monthly end story.

  • Develop new and creative views of financial analysis that helps explain the business.

  • Drive automation of key deliverables.

  • Advise senior leadership on critical trends in the business and industry that inform decision making.

  • Structure a collaborative process to partner and stay on top of changes in the business.

  • Ensure that metrics reported internally and externally are relevant and value added.

  • Support cost transformation reporting and help with change management.

  • Support an evolving landscape of Finance and Accounting systems.

  • Support End to End process re-imagination.



You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related major, or equivalent work experience.

  • 10+ years of proven financial experience in Financial Planning & Analysis or Accounting.

  • Demonstrated experience applying strategic thinking, leadership and direction of cross functional teams to complete strategic financial objectives.

  • Extensive management experience and a proven record of meeting deadlines, managing multiple complex projects simultaneously, and working in a fast-paced, dynamic, individual and team-oriented work environment.

  • Experience presenting at the most senior level within an organization and interacting successfully with senior leadership.

  • Experience successfully evaluating and interpreting how changes in the industry impact strategy and financial projections in a consumer-based business.

  • Ability to travel when needed.

  • An MBA or CPA.

  • Proven leadership in and knowledge of mobile and home industry trends and key business drivers.

  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, relationship development, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Advanced analytical and financial modeling skills with strong aptitude for driving use of digital and AI tools.

  • Ability to maintain strong relations with and influence cross-functional teams and internal and external partners.

  • Superior organizational, time management, negotiation, attention to detail, staff development, and operations skills.

  • Motivated, self-starter and highly collaborative style, able to produce high quality results in high pressure situations in a dynamic environment.

  • Technical acumen to interpret business implications.

  • Effective use of PCs including Microsoft Office.



Where you’ll be working

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
