Risk Management & Compliance – Consumer Finance is responsible for overseeing Verizon policies, processes, people and systems while partnering with business leaders to identify and mitigate financial, operational, legal, regulatory and reputational risk. The Consultant of Business Intelligence will analyze data and present insights to our key stakeholders. With your analytical, big data and reporting expertise, you’ll provide the information that will guide strategy and decision making across our business. You’ll be part of a team responsible for analyzing and gathering information about what’s going on across our lines of business and transforming data into insights and recommendations to improve performance.
You will lead analytics efforts to identify insights and drive actions across functions while also driving self-service to increase overall business efficiency and provide better stakeholder experiences. Also, you will excel in both executing the analysis and then recommending strategic decisions based on the derived insights:
Analyzing complex business problems using data from internal and external sources to provide strategic and actionable business insights with the overarching goal to reduce operational risk across the enterprise.
Executing the vision and strategy for the analytics team that creates and maintains ad hoc and recurring analytics for the Compliance organization.
Participating in cross-functional teams of technical & business partners, including senior stakeholders to identify business risks and create analytics and dashboards to monitor trends and detect outliers.
Leveraging statistics to interpret trends and patterns in datasets to locate outliers, construct forecasts and recommend monitoring solutions for business partners.
Using technical experience and background to develop and leverage the long term analytical data solutions, relevant analytics and exception reporting.
Communicating results by developing dynamic and visual reporting that clearly communicates trends and statistically significant anomalies in the context of the business problem.
Leveraging strong business acumen, presentation and communication skills to create and present analysis in a relevant, consumable, meaningful, and insightful ways.
Collaborating and strategize with other Business Intelligence professionals to share analysis, solutions, data structures and resources to minimize redundancies and improve efficiencies across the organization.
Being a subject matter expert on SQL, BI Tools, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Building collective team skill sets by training and overseeing development of other Senior Analysts.
Presenting, findings and analysis to the senior leadership team.

What we’re looking for...
We’re looking for someone who can interpret and translate data into insightful storyboards, which would highlight risks, opportunities, and course correction recommendations. You will apply these skills across a wide range of strategic and highly visible initiatives that span all processes within the Verizon Consumer Group.
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Business, Finance or related field or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Ability to write SQL queries and scripts using relational databases like Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, or Google Cloud, and pulling data from Hadoop/HIVE SQL/EDW data warehouses.
Experience with dashboards creation & presentations.
Experience with BI tools like Tableau, QLIK and Adobe analytics
Experience writing advanced SQL functions and procedures.
Experience with data modeling and data driven decision making using statistical software such as; R or Python.
Experience using Excel as an advanced modeling tool.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
An advanced degree
Experience developing general reporting, KPIs, metrics, and attributes
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Business Intelligence Certification (Such as, a CPBI).
Experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining a database and programs to manage data analysis efforts.
Proven ability to plan for and manage numerous processes and ad hoc projects simultaneously.
Experience in the Telecommunications industry.
Project experience with the proven ability to work on multiple projects concurrently leveraging excellent organization and time-management skills.
Experience working with cross-functional teams to create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs.
Experience providing business-related and or technical subject matter expertise on large, highly complex reporting projects and business analytics to support management, multifunctional departments, staff members, and peers.
Experience providing mentorship and/or training to other team members.
Ability to explain confidential and complex issues and make recommendations to leadership.
High level of curiosity and investigative mind-set with an attention to detail and accuracy along with a passion to learn new techniques with enthusiasm.
Passion for Data technologies and how they will change business
Strong quantitative and analytical skills and a proven track record of turning large amounts of multi-faceted data into meaningful information.
