At Verizon, we power and empower how people live, work and play by connecting them to what brings them joy. We do what we love — driving innovation, creativity, and impact in the world. Our V Team is a community of people who anticipate, lead, and believe that listening is where learning begins. What you’ll be doing...

The Verizon CX Team is a new internal group tasked with evolving the Verizon customer experience across all channels and touchpoints through the design and implementation of innovative products and services that customers love. Working from a studio space at 140 West Street, the team is assembling the brightest designers, strategists, researchers, to collaborate within teams and with partners to shape the future of the customer experience.

As a Senior Designer, you will contribute to design initiatives that impact the end-to-end customer journey, designing brand-defining experiences for a range of consumer-facing products and services. One in three Americans uses Verizon services, so your work will have meaningful impact at a massive scale.

You are an advanced design practitioner, you own your projects and ground user-centered design solutions in product, tech, and business strategies. You are able to work independently and deliver reliably within deadlines. You are a mentor for designers in your areas of expertise on your projects and contribute more broadly to our communities of practice. You are accountable for your growth as an individual practitioner. You are a systems thinker comfortable handling complexity. You communicate confidently, concisely, and clearly.

You produce sound, human-centered designs, and collaborate with your team and stakeholders  to come up with ideas and design solutions. You get to know your partners in product, tech, and business, and practice active listening to present rationale for the whole team’s solutions. Outside of your project, you externalize your skills and knowledge to colleagues.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Independently partner with the Product and Development teams throughout the design process to ensure user experience standards are met.

  • You consistently adhere and advocate for best design practices generating  credible design solutions with minimal guidance.

  • Judge solution quality and context appropriateness.

  • Exhibit mastery of shared tools and software for design such as Figma.

  • Maintain fluent knowledge of UI standards for common platforms (iOS, Android, Web).

  • Understand and apply patterns from the Verizon design system to create a consistent user experience.

  • Participate in analysis of observations to develop insights and user insight communications.

  • Practice sound stakeholder management and strive to understand motivations and drivers of partners and stakeholders.

  • Effectively design solutions within Verizon’s business context and revenue model.

  • Research and recommend activities and methods to guide team and partners.

  • Articulate user, business, and/or technical reasoning for detailed design decisions in critiques or presentations.

  • Identify project needs and engage stakeholders to understand context and design rationale.

  • Present overall design solutions and rationale to business partners and key stakeholders.

  • Play a lead role in mentoring new team members with a focus on core design discipline and process.

What we’re looking for...

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
