Position:  Sr. Instrumentation / Controls Engineer – Baton Rouge, LA & TX(Experience:  10 years)

The Engineer for this position will be responsible for the deliverables of concurrent projects from concept design through to the successful completion of various drawing issuances and submission of final project drawings. The Engineer will be responsible for controls equipment and instrumentation specifications, controls equipment selections, code interpretations and analysis as it pertains to the design of Energy Facilities.

What You'll Do

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • ENGINEERING
    • Controls
      • Perform engineering analysis/calculations independently, necessary to successfully execute the following Electrical elements:
        • Instrument Index with I/O
        • Instrument data sheets
        • Transmitter specifications
        • MP, JP and Control panel specifications
        • Block Diagram
        • Cause and Effects
        • Area Classification
        • PID logic input
        • Flow device sizing
        • Control valve sizing
        • Actuator sizing
        • Safety Integrity Level (SIL)
        • Hazard Operations participation
        • Participate in client meetings
        • Lead Controls engineering on projects
        • Participate in model reviews
        • Procurement support for control devices
      • Familiarity and experience in the application of the following codes/standards is helpful in this role.
        • NEC
        • Title 49 CFR Parts 190-199
        • IEEE
        • IES
        • NEMA
        • NFPA 70 (NEC)
        • API RP 500
  • DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENT
    • Participate in quality review of drawings to ensure compliance with safety-first design practices, company standards and applicable industry codes.
    • Coordinate and communicate project-specific deliverables with team members of all disciplines.
    • Research, review, and design integration of Company Standards, Municipality Requirements, and Regulatory Codes as it pertains to project deliverables.
    • Perform QA/QC of drawing deliverables.
    • Review other discipline deliverables to ensure design is properly executed and aligns with project objectives.
    • Perform field related work to obtain design pertinent information as needed.
    • Review and respond to project RFI's throughout project-life.
    • Review third-party vendor drawings to ensure compatibility with intended design.
    • Experience in field site assessments

    • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or with engineering and design teams of other disciplines.
    • Ability to react promptly and efficiently shift priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written as well as presentation skills
  • EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Work Experience 10 plus years
    • Experience in midstream energy or petrochemical sector - preferred
